    18.4x38s tires for JD 730, Farmall 706?

Not a matter of not being able to find 16.9s, it's just that we have the 18.4s there already

    18.4x38s tires for JD 730, Farmall 706?

Wondering if anyone has put 18.4x38s on either a JD 730 or Farmall 706 and if it's way too much tire for either tractor? My father put 18.4x38s on his 3020 diesel a year ago and wishes he had just put 15.5s on because it's easier to get on and off with smaller tire. I have brand new 15.5s on my...

John Deere 730 rear axle seals

To be clear, the open or lip portion side of the seal (not the flat smooth side) should be facing in towards the bull gears? Is that right?

John Deere 730 rear axle seals

Hello all, in the middle of replacing the rear axle seals on my 730 and I notice the construction of the new SKF seals look a good deal different than the original JDs. Just wondering if everyone thinks these look acceptable to put in. I'd hate to rip it apart again sooner than need be over a...

Looking at buying barn find Oliver 88, hydraulic valve question

Lehigh county Pennsylvania. The guy I'm buying it from is basically a salvage yard so I can ask him if he has anything else usable.

Looking at buying barn find Oliver 88, hydraulic valve question

So here was my thinking behind running a baler with it: the power delivery of the PTO should be fairly smooth and constant with the Oliver six cylinder engine. I'd always read that the two cylinders were tough on u joints in heavy PTO operations. I can't say I've ever found that to be the case...

Looking at buying barn find Oliver 88, hydraulic valve question

That would be great if I could just make manual levers for it. Why would someone have cut the stub shafts off flush?

Looking at buying barn find Oliver 88, hydraulic valve question

Understandable but what would make this so difficult to get running compared to a Deere? Fresh gas, a battery, electronic ignition with cap and rotor, replace the voltage regulator,. possibly rebuild generator? I mean a gas is a gas is a gas, right?

Looking at buying barn find Oliver 88, hydraulic valve question

Ok, and the bolt pattern for the valve is the same between 88 and super 88 making it a bolt on job hopefully? How plentiful are those parts at this point? Or is there any way to just bypass it completely and plumb the pump to a TSC log splitter valve or the like?

Looking at buying barn find Oliver 88, hydraulic valve question

Yeah I was told it wasnt a super. I'm figuring whenever the tractor was repainted someone with wishful thinking popped those decals on or perhaps if it was rebuilt with the super pistons and liners someone decided to decal it accordingly. Makes little difference to me.

Looking at buying barn find Oliver 88, hydraulic valve question

Looking at buying this Oliver 88 gas tractor but wondering how the hydraulics are supposed to work. Tractor was bought out of a barn at auction by a local man who jockeys used equipment. Not currently running but engine is loose, oil is black, and nice green antifreeze in the radiator so hoping...

Oliver 88, what's the good and bad?

    It's just a gas model.

Oliver 88, what's the good and bad?

Hello all, I have a chance to buy an Oliver 88, complete not running. Looks like an old barn find, tires good, owner wants $1500. I'm a JD two cylinder guy through and through but everyone seems to rave about the old Olivers and I'm curious to know what the fuss is about. My father always talks...

John Deere 752 tedder wheels and tires

I picked up a 1995 John Deere 752 tedder this winter for a spare and it needs tires. Upon removing the wheels I found the inner bearings to be in pretty rough shape as well. Interestingly, I don't see any ball bearings in the parts diagram for this tedder on Deere's site. I did find several...
