1952 8N voltage regulator or resistor?!?
It does not sound right for the resistor to have the same voltage at each end unless there is no load on it. Something else is that after the resistor has operated a while, it heats up and has more resistance. The increased resistance could be enough to stop the engine. The full voltage at...- professorx

JMOR, A resistor question.
The points get damaged if you run too many amps through them. About 4 amps is right for them. Less amperage and they survive better but the spark is weaker. With the coil it is harder to give advice as coils are available in so many different resistances. On a tractor you can run the...- professorx

Propane injector to help Hard Starting on Diesel Tractor
My diesel tractor an international 484 starts so well that I never considered diesel starting to ever be an issue. It does have ether available for starting so I pushed the button once to see what it did (it started with a rating sound)but it has never been needed in 40 years.- professorx

I used gasoline on an old stocking . the engine started and part of the stocking shot out exhaust Ether starts well but combustion pressures are high Tried it on a Briggs and saw vapor shoot out from under the head...but it ran normally. Propane should work well, easy to find screw top...- professorx
