Is it possible to switch a side mount 8N block to a front mount setup?

I have a 8N with a industrial engine in it. It is a side dist block with a magneto ignition system.

1950-51 8N whim purchase **OH BOY! IM IN TROUBLE**

It will be a nice running tractor, I got a late 50 and what I think is a 52. I changed both of mine to 12 volts. had problems with voltage regulators. I would not run a 8N with the knob on the steering wheel. works good until you hit a rock or something. I love one on my Kabuto with power...

    8N PTO Seal

I do not know which seal is best but would be inclined to use the metal case one, how ever if you part the front wheel in a ditch, you will not lose all that much oil.

    Ford 8n spark

Easier to remove the distributor to work on. just make sure the tang is aligned correctly when going back on. I would make sure you have fuel thru the carb before messing with the spark. I might even give it a wiff of starting fluid.

    Ford 8n metal clanging sound

Replacing the ring gear is not all that hard. do need source of heat tho. I replaced one when I rebuilt one of my 8n's 12 years ago or so. I went to 12 volts on both of mine when I could not get a voltage regulator that worked. I have had no problems with either being 12 volts.. 8n's are great...

8N runs with idle screw fully closed

It would tell me that you are sucking in air around the throttle shaft. The idle needle adjusts air not fuel.

    Smoke but good compression

compression rings control compression. Oil rings control oil usage.

    Frozen Transmission

Mine Mine never set out in the rain but they sure do get a lot of condensation in them and I don't run them long enough to cook the moisture out.

1944 2N. Fuel left on at bowl.

I have 2 8n's, one I shut it down by turning the gas off and letting it run till it dies. The other one I just just it off with the key switch without shutting the fuel off. Smart, maybe not, but in 30 years that I have owned it, I have never had a problem.
