    Splitting 4430 Cabbed Tractor

    I use a ten ton floor jack myself to hold the rear up....custom(home made) front stands made from heavy trailer screw jacks that are height adjustable and have wheels.... I spent 20 years in a JD dealer shop and have seen half a tractor hit the floor!...It ain't pretty!

    Is that a pedal hydrostat 4200 tractor?....I thought those use JD Low viscosity hydraulic/trans fluid? The cheap yellow bucket '303' fluid is not for anything JD much beyond 1973 and newer. It meets the old JD specs not the newer stuff....fine for your log splitter...I would not put it in a...

    Trash on the suction screen....lots of debris probably from a previous issue as it all looked like old stuff. A closer inspection of the machine shows the left final drive has been off at some point in the past. My guess is that either the planet gears or axel bearings went out(or maybe blew...

    Hmmm...not a hyd. pto has a dual stage clutch and pto shift lever. I've done those steering column o"rings before!...They are awesome. I did not mess with the friend's 2020 much today. I did start it up and check to see if the hydraulics were working cold today like they did...

    Usually towards the flywheel...but check the new disc....most are marked 'flywheel side'

    I was born and raised poor....my father would weld that up bead after bead and grind it out...he would likely weld-up the pin too!

    Another thing I thought I might check would be the pump drive shaft a key(looked at JD online parts)....I had a 4440 strip the splines from the pump drive shaft last summer....but it lost it all at once and no more until it got a new shaft

    Bendix brakes....lots of tractors use those or variations of the Bendix type brakes. Seems like you could buy a kit at one time with new balls and springs....but I'm thinking that was for a Case
