practical advice on shimming H differential

I have learned in doing three of them, that, if you are re-using the old ring and pinion gears, be prepared for alot of gear whine for some time. Your old gears remained quiet, gradually wearing into their present contact pattern. By changing that pattern in going back to original "tight" specs...

    Good Morning, Who's Up?

Mornin' all...been up since 4:00. I decided long ago I wasn't gonna let this 'puter start my day (I deal with them all day-automotive). I start my day either on Amateur Radio (-.. . -.- ----- -.-. -.-- .-)or I'll pick up a guitar (one of nine) and then if I'm in the mood, I'll flip this switch...

IH. Cub Cadet/Industrial Yellow and white paint?

The white should be IH 901. Any urethane w/hardener mix should last a lifetime. I"ve restored my 2 Farmall H"s in the last year and a half, and used enamel/hardener...I am not happy with the durability of this stuff. You WILL pay more for Urethane however.

    M Water Pump Packing Nut

I just went through that nightmare. I've done several H's, but not an M. I actually had to replace the shiev (sp) that had previously broke off in two pieces. That "Gland Nut" as IH calls it can be a real bear if it's been bottomed out. I went to every extent to remove ths bugger with what I had...

    multispark problem

I seem to remember your earlier post regarding the ignition box, and it seems to me you said you had it set on six cylinder mode. I don't know if you have changed this situation, but a four cylinder engine will not run on a six cylinder firing setup as the six cylinder fires every 120 degrees...

    When to spray

I have a 5 acre field that has grass and clover on it, but it is heavily infested with wild parsnips, goldenrod, and milkweed. I was about to cut it with my sickle mower. A good friend just offered up his Walsh sprayer to go over the field with. Is it best to spray while all is still standing...
