    cotton picker

I have never seen a ben pearson or rust picker in person. not a whole lot of old pickers of any sort around as most have been scrapped just like the old gins. very few folks have any desire to have one or try to work on or restore one due to their complexity and lack of available parts. being...

LA steering gear question Part II

I did not have to do anything other than insert the correct bearings that I purchased. Mine had an incorrect ball bearing in the bottom end. It used a roller bearing on both ends.

LA steering gear question Part II

I had to rebuild the steering box on my unstyled L 2 years ago. I'm pretty sure they were the same through the styled L and LA. After doing some research I found out a good bit about them. These boxes were built by gemmer and used also on early ford and dodge vehicles. I found the correct...

    cotton picker

i have never seen a rust picker but I know a little about them. They were one of the first companies to try to develop a mechanical picker and I believe they were bought by allis chalmers who used their design for their early pickers. They use long thin spindles opposed to the larger tapered...

Antifreeze leak in B cylinder block

Or I have used water-weld or fas-weld which is a semisolid 2 part stick that you knead and apply. Because it's much more solid it works easier than jb weld in this application.

    Ohio Eastern Expo pics

thanks for the pics. that is indeed a model 15 cotton stripper. these were being used before pickers were on the market. deere's first self propelled picker was sold in 1949 and tractor mounted one row units came about the same time. this unit (or one just like it) was sold at a polk auction...

    420 Industrial

on top of the main case on the left of the transmission cover is a small flat area which would likely have a custom job code stamped on it that could denote yellow paint from the factory. mine is stamped c208 and other navy tractors are stamped c207...

    Unlead gasoline

Just my .02 but I never leave any gas in any of my antique tractors. I use only ethanol free gas and make sure that I run them all dry then empty the bowl if possible whenever I run them. It's worked well for me for years now.
