    Re: Thermostats

Are you sure the engine is not coming up to temperature. I discovered that my MD was coming up to temperature, but the temperature gauge was bad. I put a thermocouple in the radiator and found it was at temperature when the gauge said it was still cold. Roger

    Farmall H Bolster/Steering Rebuild

After you went through a complete rebuild like you did there is no reason you can't use regular 90 weight gear oil. I have always done that with all my front end rebuild and never had a leak using gear oil if the seals are properly installed. Roger

    350 farmall with continental diesel

What do you mean the drive and injector pump are locked up. The injector pump drive gear comes directly off the camshaft. Doesn't the engine turn and if it doesn't how do you know the drive is locked up causing the problem? The pin is so you can adjust the gear backlash with the eccentric so...

    350 farmall with continental diesel

I have a 350 diesel, so have the manual handy. Following are engine torque specs: Cylinder head nuts (1/2) - 100-110 ft lb Cylinder head nuts (3/8) - 35-40 ft lb Manifolds - 25-30 ft lb Energy cell retainer plug - 125-135 ft lb Main bearing - 100-110 ft lb Connecting rod - 70-75 ft lb Camshaft...

    mounting a rear tire

Since we are talking about mounting tires, the last set of new tractor tires I mounted had a note in the bag of the new tube to lubricate the tube with soap solution. I had never heard of doing that before. Anyone else done that? Roger

    ID loader

You have an International Harvester Model 30 loader. I have a Model 31 which is a little different. I am not sure about the bucket it has on it as I have seen one like it, but it also may be a homemade one. Mine has a narrow bucket. Roger

want to change 1st gear to make tractor go slow

I have a 6 foot rototiller on my Super H. I have done a lot of rototilling with mine. The ground speed is too fast for doing a single pass, but if you make a second pass on soil that has been previously worked up or multiple passes on sod it works fine. So even if you make multiple passes it...

    engine temp..

I don't know where you got your temperature gauge, but I just bought one for my Farmall 350 and it basically didn't work out of the box. I would check the water temperature in the radiator after it appears warmed up and see if it is warm. Mine was up to 180 degrees and the temperature gauge...

    Farmall M Loader---Model?

My son and I both have a Model 31 loader on our H//Super H's. With the way they are designed with the 4-bar linkages and hydraulic cylinders on the sides they can lift way more than you should be lifting with an H. My son went to his neighbors and moved his semi tractor sleeper unit for him...

    what rear end will fit?

Seems to me a different tractor is a better option as converting an H to IPTO isn't a simple thing. Roger

    Seat for M

I don't like the vinyl ones especially in hot weather. My butt sweats and is wet when I get off. With the canvas ones that doesn't happen. Roger

    Stuck stuck stuck

Montes Equipment sells parts for the Continental engine in the 350 diesel. They have gasket sets, and overhaul kits including new sleeves, pistons, rings, oil pump rebuild kits, but not valves. Roger

    pto disengaging

The transmission input shaft is a long shaft that goes from the engine clutch to the PTO. When I replaced mine, I bought a new one form TM Tractor Parts on the Cub web site. They are about $125 from him. I think they are very much more from CaseIH. Roger

    starter band gasket

I found that any tape like duct tape or masking tape deteriorates and the next time you go to take off the brush cover it is either all sticky or dried out and/or hard. I prefer some type of thin cardboard. Roger

    Farmall A Seat

Maybe I was dreaming, but I thought that aftermarket seat came as a kit. I have one on my Farmall A and it looks almost factory installed. The problem is that when they installed it they removed the old seat brackets and that is where the serial number is, so have no serial number tag for...
