    I got the PTO gear box off the tractor . I found that my problem is that the gear that the PTO gearbox ties into has lost 4 teeth in a row and i think the teeth were binding up. What is this gear and do i have to split the tractor to get to it because i think I'm going to have to. Thanks in advance.

    well we have finnaly figured out what was wrong with the 44. it had a slipped rod bearing 3 from the drivers seat. we got it pulled off but it chewed up the crank a little.     No i havent pulled any bearing caps. Those are the hings on the bottom of teh piston shafts connecting it to the crank shaft right? there are in two seperate peices held together around the shaft with two bolts? Does anyone have a good step by step on how to remove them or do u just unbolt...

    Just an update got the tractor running. The floats bad but got a new one in the mail. Everything seems to run good on it. Thanks for all the replies still havent tracked down the serial number yet.
