Replaced Steering Cylinders...bled...not working MF 245

FIXED!!! So you remember I said that it turned to the left but not back to the right? The driver side cylinder was the problem. I took it off and could not compress the detached cylinder. Took it back to the place that rebuilt it and they put in a new seal and it works. Put it all back together...

Replaced Steering Cylinders...bled...not working MF 245

Okay, I took the power steering pump out, got a new o ring and filter. Couldn't find a gasket to go between the PS pump and the engine so I made one. I got the lid off and cleaned everything up but when I went to put it back on the o ring didn't want to stay around the pump body. I tried to...

Replaced Steering Cylinders...bled...not working MF 245

Update: I jacked up the front of the tractor and I could manually move the wheels to the left but not to the right. The wheels did the same thing when I used the steering wheel. The cylinders have full range of movement, so that's not the cause. I'm getting the gaskets and filter for the power...

Replaced Steering Cylinders...bled...not working MF 245

I wondered about that but they are hooked up the same way they came off.Plus there's another mf245 in the yard and they're hooked you the same way. I also read somewhere that the steering cylinders are the same on both sides (not a right or left cylinder) and if that's so one cylinder is...

Replaced Steering Cylinders...bled...not working MF 245

Diesel Two cylinders with two hoses each. There's resistance in the steering wheel but no movement. I've bled the system and the level isn't going down when I turn the wheel. It makes straining noise when I turn the wheel. The picture of the reservoir is old, It is clean now. I haven't checked...

MF 245 Steering Cylinder removal question...

Okay...I got the steering cylinder off the tractor. The service manual shows what I assume is a bushing, but I can't tell (see picture). Rodney

    MF 245 3 point hitch won't raise...probably user error

UPDATE: I got the TS300 valve to move!! Now the 3 point hitch moves up and down when the valve is in the middle position. Interestingly, though, the loader was still operational despite the position of the TS300, although it was slower when the valve was in the rearward position. Now I need to...

    MF 245 3 point hitch won't raise...probably user error

Thanks, Miangus. I tried to turn the valve but it seems stuck. Does it just turn it must it be pulled out then turned? R

    MF 245 3 point hitch won't raise...probably user error

Okay, so my MF 245 needs the tilt/bucket hydraulics resealed as they leak. Put air in the tires today and filled the trans/hydraulic fluid and took it for a spin with the flail down. but noticed the right hydraulic cylinder for the power steering was leaking and wouldn't turn. Prior to that, I...

MF 232 FEL Tilt Hydraulic Cylinder rebuild kit ... can't find one online. Ideas?

Thanks Jim.ME for the info and the advice about a shop doing the rebuild for me. I saw one video of someone doing it and they had a hard time AND they had a fully stocked shop; I don't. Rodney

MF 232 FEL Tilt Hydraulic Cylinder rebuild kit ... can't find one online. Ideas?

I have a MF 245 with a 232 FEL. When I started it up after years of non-use, fluid streams out of the tilt cylinders. Tried to find rebuild kits but I can't. Is it an search engine issue? Does anybody have a "go to" parts supplier that may not pay Google to be listed high in the search...

Massey Ferguson 245 Standard vs Orchard vs Vineyard...how to tell the difference

I have inherited a 1980 MF 245. I think it is an Orchard version but am wondering how to tell the difference. I saw in a Youtube video or another forum that you can tell by the front suspension. Also by the decal on the hood; on one version the decal doesn't go all the way to the front (don't...

MF 245 access to neutral switch

Update: I cleaned out the area near the neutral switch then bypassed the switches as suggested by MF#1. I used a remote starter cable and after struggling to get the clip on the post, it clicked when I hit the button. So for fun, I hooked up the battery completely and tried to start it and low...

MF 245 access to neutral switch

Can I take the part circled in blue off without opening up the transmission? MF 245. I have the service and owners manuals and didn't see any exploded views of this area. Thanks, Rodney

Red MF 245 Move Steering Wheel, Tires don't turn...

Thanks to Jim.ME and Istra. I was hoping the hydraulic steering might be an option. I'll look at the tractor tomorrow and take some pictures. I have quite a few pictures but nothing related to the steering. Interestingly, I have 2 MF 245's and the other one's steering wheel also spins freely.
