    12 Volt Systems

That sounds about right. I had a '52 Merc that was 6 volt and a '57 Merc that was 12.

    O/T ARMY TIME SPENT

No Army time. 10 years USMC, 1953 to 1963. Worked in Aviation Electronis. Being a "winger" for 10 years, it would be easier to say where I wasn't than where I was. Something like 17 countries.

    Is there a true 100% made U.S.A. car/truck

What's interesting is NAASCAR runs Fords, Chevys, Dodges, and Toyotas, and of the models they run, Toyotas are the only ones made in the U.S. The Fords are made in Mexico, and Chevys and Dodges are made in Canada.

    Steyr Tractors?

Hendrick, I just read an absorbing book, Soldier of Orange, by one of your countrymen, Erik Hazelhoff, about his exploits in WWII. I'm having a hard time even imagining what you folks must have gone through during the German occupation.

O.T. Some suggestions for Toyotas future slogans

I recall about 1960, I was stationed at Atsugi, Japan. Honda hadn't started building cars yet, and imports were rare in the U.S. but most of the locat taxis in Japan were Toyotas and Datsuns. There was a gravel road of about 4 miles from the base to the town of Yamato. The road was nonstop...

** Central Iowa BROKE record **

Probably a B, B+, or an A-. That's where most of my grades fell. If I'd have gotten too bad a grade, I'd remember it.

** Central Iowa BROKE record **

About ten or twelve years ago, I wrote a term paper on global warming. If past patterns hold true, right now the Earth is nearing the end of a 10,000 year warming trend, and within 2,000 years will enter another mini ice age. At least once in the past, the Earth was some 14 degrees warmer...

Why do we say "back and forth" when we need to go forth before we can come back?

Lol,couldn't believe what I was hearing on the phone

Many times an employee's exit file has a "Yes/No" question of eligibility for rehire. Frankly, I've been around the block enough times, and hired and fired enough people, to be aware that failing on one job is not a definitive indication that someone will not excel in another situation or...

Lol,couldn't believe what I was hearing on the phone

I stand on my original comment. Every place I've worked in Corporate America for the last 40 years has had the same policy of not commenting on former employees beyond confirming dates of employment. In reality, sometimes what you don't say speaks loudest.

Lol,couldn't believe what I was hearing on the phone

Man, did you leave yourself open for a huge lawsuit. This guy can now drag you into court for all the next jobs he applies for and doesn't get. Never, EVER, make negative comments about a former employee. If you can't say anything positive, just confirm the dates of employment and LEAVE IT...

    Pernell Roberts

Reminds me of once when I was in the Marine Corps. I was sitting in my room with the door open one evening, with an LP record of TV theme songs playing. The guy who lived next door to me walked past just as the "Bonanza" theme song came on. He ran into his room and turned the TV on. He...

    O/T Computer Virus...

The wizard just came in and said MS came up with an update on IE8 that blocks this virus. He installed it on mine and others in the office. Tonight, I'll have to install it on both of our computers at home.

Allis Chalmers WD, how big a farm was it desighned for?

I worked for a neighbor for a couple of summers while I was in high school. We farmed 400 acres with a WD and a C. The WD was the work horse, and the C was used for cultivating, mowing hay, etc. With the boss and I swapping off on it, that WD put in many a string of 16 hour days. I don't...

    O/T Computer Virus...

My computer at work got nailed with a virus yesterday afternoon. It started out, right while I was working, with a popup popping up and starting to scan the computer for viruses. When it finished scanning, it showed a half dozen viruses that needed to be removed, and another page popped up...
