    Case 530 triple range gear oil & hydraulic fluid

    Case recommends Hi-Tran or equivalent. Keep in mind the range or shuttle section also serves as your hydraulic reservoir. I use the NAPA equivalent.

    When the tractor is running, you should get about 14 volts across the terminals of a 12 volt battery. The Multimeter will have voltage settings for AC and DC, make sure you use the DC setting. Is it a generator or an alternator? If it is the generator, it may be charging just fine, and...

    Is it a single wire or a thermocouple?

    They all want 5w-Something. so I think I would stick with the 5. Probably best to stick with the manufacturer's recommendation.

    I ask because you didn't mention it, but did you check the hydraulic fluid level. I would say 80% of the time people I know have trouble with the three point hitch it is low fluid.

    Is there a decent way to get this tire off a bad rim?

    That bead breaker hammer isn't all that friendly. I got something called a "little buddy" from Norther Tool several years ago. Three flat fingers you drive in between the bead and the rim. Then you clam the fingers in place and turn a bolt with a wrench. The screw drives two fingers down...

    How does the HP change?

    Same for the Case 430 (30HP), 530 (42HP) and 630 (49HP). All use the 188 ci engine, just different adjustment to the injector pump.

    I thought the VAC-14 was the wide front version. I also think the seat and platform are lower.

    case 300 governor kaput?

    The spring has to have the right tension or else the governor will not function properly. Last time I had to replace the spring on mine I got it from John Salie.
