    Noisy rear axles.

Let the ribbing begin.. ;-) I bought a 20L pail of gear oil and it took ALL of it to fill it to the plug. Noise did not go away. Might have changed it a bit, but there is no doubt that its very loud in fourth gear. Can't hear it in second, third is noticeable. Not going to fix it at this...

    1945 Case DC4 mag problems.

Thanks guys, proper plugs, new wires and cleaned up the mag cover and it runs PERFECTLY. Smoked a little blue the first couple of minutes until it warmed up driving around the yard for a while. Once warmed up the exhaust was totally clear. Set the carb screw to 2.25 turns out and it can...

    Noisy rear axles.

I never even checked the fluid, I will definitely look at that. I don't have a manual, where is the plug to check?

    1945 Case DC4 mag problems.

Thanks for the tips on the plugs, I will get a set of those. I was desperate to get the thing running so I have a mix of resistor type plugs in there right now. The wires are copper core, but it looks like Grandpa made them himself out of extension cords! There are two strands coming out, one...

    Noisy rear axles.

1945 DC4 has noise coming from the rear axles that has progressively been getting worse. Sounds like really dry or worn out bearings. Also vibrates the tractor a fair bit and rattles your teeth. I greased the fittings on each axle but that has not made any difference. Really bad in fourth gear...

    1945 Case DC4 mag problems.

Is Tubacase47 able to ship to Canada? Hate to replace the whole unit but if I can't find a cap I might have to do that.

    1945 Case DC4 mag problems.

My Grandfather gave me his well maintained and always parked under a roof DC4 8 or 9 years ago before he passed away. I don't have a farm, just an acreage so the tractor doesn't get used much at all. I fire it up a few times a year and drive it around the yard to keep it running. The last few...

Will these rims/tires fit my 231?

Thanks for the info, much appreciated. Turns out those rims were 8 bolt with an 8 inch spread. I have exhausted all leads available in central Alberta where I am. All three tractor wreckers in the province have nothing. They want me to buy over 1000 bucks of new rims/tires and I don't feel...

Will these rims/tires fit my 231?

My 231 has the really wide turf tires and rims. In order to make the tractor fit on a regular equipment trailer (80 inch width), I need normal, narrow tractor tires. Someone told me on this forum a few months ago that rims/tires from an 8N will fit. I have not had luck finding any. I did...

    What rims/tires fit a 231.

I have a 231 tractor with turf tires that are really wide. So wide, that I can't use a regular car trailer to haul it anywhere. I have to get an 8 foot wide highboy trailer (rent it). Rented it twice last summer and don't want to have to do that again. Got some work mowing grass at a friends...

    OT: Carraro tiller questions.

Ya according to him there is a dealer nearby that can get parts for it. He replaced a shaft inside a few years ago and was able to get the part no problem (at that time). I ended up buying it for his asking price. It was old looking, but not beatup and the tines were nice and sharp. The...

    OT: Carraro tiller questions.

Looking at a used rototiller tonight for my Ford 231 tractor. The guy dropped his price from 1000 to 500 bucks. He hasn't used it in a few years as he doesn't have a tractor anymore so I can't see it in operation. He figures it is a 50 or 54 inch model, has a 3 speed and he said it works great...

Gave a lady a ride home and...

My 231 developed a stuck clutch. Split the tractor and it was a broken cotter pin that allowed some clutch parts to dislodge and lock everything up. Not sure if that is what is wrong with yours, but might be something to consider.

    Just a Thank you

Wow! Take care of that leg man. I broke my ankle and my leg three years ago. I followed the doctors orders and STAYED OFF my leg the full 12 weeks and I was glad I did. Someone else I spoke to that had a similar injury started putting weight on it when he figured it would be ok. It never did...

Alternator conversion on a 3 cylinder

Sorry I don't have any advise on your install, but it looks pretty good from what I see in the pics. I put a 130amp alternator on my 231 Diesel last year. I bought one from a wrecking yard that was on a late 90's Taurus. The bottom mount was a direct fit, but the top adjustment bar was too...
