Poulan lawn tractor with a Brigs & Stratton Engine

Howdy all! Here is a little background as I understand it. This is on a Briggs and Stratton 40H777. Initial problems began when the "solenoid" on the carb that stops fuel flow when bad. This somehow ruined the ignition switch. While troubleshooting to figure out what my initial problem was, I...

    214 John Deere Pivot - AM34851

Good afternoon! Can you press out the pins on a John Deere Pivot - AM34851? Mine are getting worn thin (see picture). Thought it might be cheaper to replace the pins. If so, is there a PN or specs on the pins? It is "V" from the service manual. Thanks! Russ

Throttle Cable "Range of Motion" on a John Deere 2

Hello! I am working a 214 so that my Mom will have a more reliable mower to use. Thanks to reading LOTS on this forum, I have it nearly complete. I have one minor thing I'm struggling with. Sometime in this mower's life, I believe the throttle cable has been replaced. At least that is my...

    340 Farmall Tachometer Gear Replacement

Hello all! After getting the 340 running I noticed the tach just bounced. Took the cable loose at the distributor and spun it. Tach worked fine. Figured, after reading posts here, that it was the gear. Sure enough, it was stripped. Couple of questions. 1. How do I get the gear out...

John Deere #5 Sickle Mower knife replacement question

John Deere #5 Sickle Mower knife replacement question

Hello all! Thanks to a Johnson Sickle Servicer Tool my cousin had, we made short work of all but the 5 knives closest to the "Knife head." See picture below. I don't think it will take TOO long to shear off the remaining rivets and replace the knives, but the rivets closest to the...

Questions on my 340 Farmall & John Deere No 5 Sickle Mow

Thanks! The tires on it are 12-36. I took a picture this weekend as a reference (see above). I just need to figure out, if I have to buy used tires, what I should get. Something similar, and common enough that a guy might find a used set that isn't too bad.

Questions on my 340 Farmall & John Deere No 5 Sickle Mow

Thanks guys! LOTS of good help thus far. [b:d1b1332044]If[/b:d1b1332044] I ended up having to buy a used set of tires as well, what are the most common sizes that can be mounted on a 10-36 rim (aside from the 12.4x36)? That way I increase my chances of finding a set of used ones. Russ

Questions on my 340 Farmall & John Deere No 5 Sickle Mow

Howdy all, I had a thread started on a manual for my mower, but i feel that the next questions have outgrown that so I 'm starting anew. Long story short I'm getting a 340 and a No. 5 sickle mower going that has been in my family for at least 30 years. The tractor has not run much in the...
