    1955 860 Mission Creep (pic)

Thanks for all the advice. The downpressure idea is great. Don"t know why I didn"t think about that. I"m gonna get the right rims and put some high ply truck tires on Bertha. I do put my heavy box blade on it when not mowing and that helps a lot. Thanks again Clay

    1955 860 Mission Creep (pic)

I have a 1957 850 I"m gonna start on in a few months. I didn"t look to see if the rims are the same as the ones on Bertha. I"ll look and see. Thanks for the tip about the narrowest position. I think thats the way I got them set but if not I will. Thanks Clay

    1955 860 Mission Creep (pic)

Bertha is not used for plowing, just bushoging, maintaining the driveway and some heavy lifting. My entire place looks like the grassed areas you see in the pictures. With the weight of the loader and bucket, it don"t think traction on the front end would be a problem. Been thinking about...

    1955 860 Mission Creep (pic)

Yes it is manual steering and I mean "MAN"ual steering. No clearence to turn them around. I"ve been thinking about putting road tires on the front and see if that would help. Any suggestion on improving the steering would be appreciated. One thing about the "MAN"ual steering, it keeps the...

    1955 860 Mission Creep (pic)

Pulled "Old Bertha" into the shop about 3 weeks ago to replace the rubber fuel line to 1/4" break line. I has a picture of the reroute posted by "Greg1959". Made the mistake of letting Bertha see the picture and she found out she was originally red and now she was blue. So to keep her happy...

1955 860 Pitman Arm Rubbing Bell Housing

Thanks for the advice. I have "mission creep" on this project. I started out replacing the rubber fuel line with a 1/4" break line and now I'm into painting the whole tractor and replacing anything that may not look good. This is my work tractor but I want it to look good. I will post...

1955 860 Pitman Arm Rubbing Bell Housing

Just finished painting the cast parts on my 1955 850. I never noticed that the Pitman Arms are rubbing against the bell housing because of the dirt and grease and old paint. With the new paint, you can tell the the bottom ball joint bolt on the Pitman Arm is now rubbing against the bell...

    703 Loader Hydraulic Cylinder

I had my bucket cylinders rebuilt about a year ago and the guy charged $150.00 each. He did a good job and I have no complaints. The lift cylinders need to be rebuilt and I think I will give it a shot. My problem is I have been to my local CNH Dealer and NAPA and they don"t have to parts and...

    1955 860 fuel line reroute

I want to reroute my fuel line on my 1955 860. I have searched the archives and found a picture posted by "lonestarjeff" and looks like an excellent reroute. Could anyone tell me how long a 1/4" breakline I will need to do this reroute and does the fittings come with it. Also, it has the...

    OT - Air Compressors

Thanks for all the advice. I ordered it this morning and it will be delivered in a few days. I also ordered an Eastman 170 MIG Welder with gas and now I have to learn to weld. :) I"m going out today to run two 220 V lines to my shop. I knew I was going to need them when I built it but...
