13 yr old and his new to him farmall M. long note.

I used a 3 wire when I switched the 640. I read the 1 wire units had to be spun up to 1700 RPM (or so) just to start charging. Then after that, the RPMs could be lowered. This needs to happen every time the tractor is started. That was the reason I choose the 3 wire.

    Stainless Air Tanks

They are/were used commercially (McDonalds, BK) so I would have to think so.

    Stainless Air Tanks

Has anyone used those 5 gal coke syrup tanks for compressed air? (google Cornelius Keg) I figure with rust being a real problem, stainless steel would be a good direction. Just having a small pump, if 2 or 3 were used together it should be safe for quite some time.

    Jubilee Runs Rough

So here's a real shot in the dark... Pull the air cleaner hose off of the carb and check the choke butterfly position in respect to the pull knob. Perhaps somehow it is positioned incorrectly.

    Sparkplugs, Sparkplugs, Sparkplugs... oh my.

Charles, Most outboard motors don't have the ground electrode over the center. At least the ones I've worked on didn't.

Have you pulled the valve cover and checked to see if all the valves move while turning it over?

    Pic of the day

I'd go for the Bondo too. The furnace cement I use on the coal stove needs to be brought over 300F to fully cure. Bet the Bondo would stand up better in an exterior application as well.

    Ford 600 Sticking valves

On my 640, I can pull the valve cover without touching the hood. It's tight, but I've done it several times I would pull before mentioned and concentrate on the valve(s) in question instead of pumping all sorts of stuff thru the oil galleys. Just my thoughts.
