    I'm making a wild guess that it's flooding on you and that it dries out after you give it time. However, there are much smarter people here who can probably give you a better answer. Have you tried starter fluid after it stalls.?

    Thanks Joey. Good idea. Mine came with the brush hog always takes a minute or two to stop spinning and wouldn't want my tractor to run away because of it.

    Thank you all. I disconnected every single electrical connection in the battery area, cleaned and added dielectric grease to them. I also replaced both battery cables - both showed damage. The starter cranked wonderfully. Thank you again.

    Thank you. Unfortunately I do not have the old carb. I had thought about rebuilding it, but decided for time and effort I was better off with one already redone :-(. Yes, I have verified both holes in the shutoff assembly are clear.
