Fordson with BackHoe (new thread-- feedback requested)

thanks for the great feedback Andy. Anything to keep a close eye when I inspect it? I am familiar with the Tractor at this point, but not the bucket and backhoe. The owner already indicated one cylinder needs a rebuild... and I take it from your note that may be a job involving hard to...

    Fordson won't "idle down"

I've ordered a new diaphragm for the throttle and will try putting that in when it comes; Hopefully that corrects the rev issue. I didn't see any issues with the intake pipes from air cleaner. Ill check the rest of the system then if the diaphragm isn't visibly worn. Any other thoughts on...

    Fordson won't "idle down"

Hi All, Another question about my Fordson-- (Can you tell its getting heavy use?) Throttle works well under load (e.g set a position and stays) BUT under no load, it is now very slow to idle down, or won't idle down, even with throttle at min. setting. If i load her at all, will...

New Clutch on Fordon Major:Can't get adjustment right

Got it; I'll get in touch with the local shop. the 1 hour swap is a good data point! I'm sure that comes from lots of practice. I was interested in doing the swap, but at the moment don't have a level surface / garage to split the unit in. (using it at my camp, to clear land for a home)...

New Clutch on Fordon Major:Can't get adjustment right

Hey Majorman and Richard, thank you for the feedback. In responce to your thoughts: It is a standard clutch (not live). When I received the tractor back from the clutch work, it was slipping, and I did immediately call the shop, and they suggested I use the pedal adjustment rod, which...

Hey All, Looking for help on troubleshooting my Fordson Major's new clutch. This fall I had the clutch replaced on my Fordson Major by a reputable local "old tractor" repair shop. When I got the tractor back the clutch slipped noticeably, so I adjusted the clutch rod a few turns...

    Fordson Major : Starter Whine?

Hi All, Continuing to push this girl in the cold (sub 0) and heavy heavy snow. Tire chains installed this week made quick work of the road, and the engine seems to like the work. To the point: I have noticed that if don't get to a ignition on a crank cycle (hard cranking-- even w/ heat to...

Fordson Major lost power today... troubleshooting

For those that are curious, the issue was frozen water in the air filter. It appeared my water than oil! Love this design w/ no consumable filter. Brilliant. I cleared out the ice, put in fresh oil, and now more power than ever. Also got to finish plowing! Thanks for the help everyone

Robert, Thanks for the insight on that; I think I read a little bit about that on here already and will look to that as my next step. JDV: good point on gelling/ and or reserve, I hadn't considered that. I'm going to fill up the tank this week with fresh fuel & then on Sunday when...
