    O/T Progress Report.........

Two doors leading into the house... is one 36" wide? That would be the one they could carry the casket out of the house. Friend in construction told me that. Our house (built in 1900) has two doors on the front, each leading to large rooms that are connected like described above. And one is 36"...

    706 Engine Rebuild kit

Well that's what the owner's manual recommends... 93 octane. Good enough for me.

    706 vs. Digital TV

Yeah, the plowing days. Used to pull 4 16s with our 656. Would stop it, shut the lights off and look at the manifold glowing and even the slight pink glow to the muffler! Another plowing story... Dad farmed with a 2236 and neighbor had a JD B. They were plowing together and the neighbor came...

    706 vs. Digital TV

Have heard those can run a long, long time on one tank of fuel. I use mine for moving snow, running a bush hog or moving dirt & gravel around on our acreage. Am sure that if I was really working her in the field I'd want something that doesn't gulp the fuel like a gasser! Grew up with a 656...

    706 vs. Digital TV

Well... if you've got a German diesel you'd like to part with.... :0 I'll stick with the gasser. Like that sound when she snorts a little pushing snow.

    706 vs. Digital TV

Took my 1965 706 down to my friend/neighbor's house to help him move some snow. As it sat in his driveway idling when I went in to chat (and perhaps consume a malted beverage), his digital TV (pulled in via antenna) was all kinds of messed up. He said it started when I got near his house on the...

Was 1957 a bad year for IH?

I had a 1957 450 last winter. Big enough to do everything I wanted it to for the 2.3 acres we had at the time. Loved it. But It wasn't big enough for the new place so traded it on a 706. Really like it as I can move so much more snow and don't even have chains on it. But I'm kinda partial to...

    706 IH

I have a 706 gasser and frankly I love it for loader work. Just one lever to move to shift from forward to reverse in a straight line, with no extra movements. Yeah, it's touchy. But it's a 40+ year old tractor and I'm a lot touchier than I used to be!! I have no weights on rears or fluid and...

    Heat houser on F706

I sorta figured that was the case, but just thought someone might have recently done the same thing and had some hints. Getting colder so I gotta get on it. Roger

    Heat houser on F706

I received an after-market heat houser & windshield with the 706 I bought, but it has not been on the tractor. I recall how the IH one was mounted that we had on a 656 when I was growing up, but the after-market one doesn't have the same brackets around the steering wheel. The only thing that...

    Need help with brush killer

Or if you really want to nuke things, "tank mix" 2-4-D with RoundUp. Will kill most anything, including giant ragweed. Just mix the two per label instructions and combine. But be careful around things you don't want to eliminate! We lovingly call it "liquid hoe."

    Farmall 706 serial question

I have a Farmall 706 that is likely to be mine (moving to larger acreage and need a bigger tractor/loader than my 450). It has a serial number that according to the listing on this site would make it a 1966 model. On the serial number plate, there is the serial number followed by letter...
