    backhoe

When I hook up the backhoe to my 841 ford powermaster, it swings to a degree. Is there anything I can do to stabilize it when I"m working with it?

O/T Cash Rent on Farm Ground

Alot of long term landlord/tennants seem to be working in the 180 to 280 dollars per acre range. It is getting more common, though, for the owner to go for an all out high bid. There are more and more guys willing to pay up to $400/acre rent, so owner loyalty to a good long term area operator...

    5020

Hopefully it's in sound condition. Also, if it's missing any sheet metal, you will probably be surprised at the cost of those pieces. If you need any parts, I know of a guy that has some for sale. You will have a riot running the tractor. I bought and restored one 2 years ago and it is quite a...

    Corn Done

Glad to hear your done ! Always a relief to get the harvest finished, especially when it gets into mid-November. Hope you found good yields after the challenging growing season we had. We have 100 acres left, also @ 20% moisture, so it will take 3 or 4 days for the dryer to digest. Yields have...

Re: What kind of tractor(s) do you have?

I have John Deere. Grew up with them, collect them and farm with them. Probably why I'm most familiar with them. But, I would not rule out ever owning another machine such as I.H., M.M., A.C., or really any brand of American made tractor. Kind of like 'em all.

    O/T Vette

If you go home through N.E. Iowa, stop by my place. Would love to see the Vette. Is it a coupe or roadster ? Big block or small ? Of all years of Corvette's, 1967 is the one that tops them all. Don't have any hauling tips for you, just thinking how lucky you are.

    walker and sts combines

Both machines are very reliable, do a great job - if set properly, and have top resale value. Deere had been experimenting with the rotary concept since the 1940's, but the concave/rasp bar machines seemed to work better under a variety of conditions. The drawback was limited capacity in the...

    Not today

Finished corn on monday and started beans tuesday morning. Started planting this a.m. around 6:30 as the weatherman thought the rains would dissipate before they got to Waterloo. Got rained out at around 7:30 and already show .3 inch in the rain guage. It has been a beautiful rain, though. We...

Model 82 snow plow on 3020

This plow was made from 1961 to around 1964. It was the heavier built of two models, the other one being the model (42) It was available in 7, 8, or 9 foot widths. A remote hydraulic cylinder lift was standard, with cable lift to rear rockshaft being an option. No idea on production #'s or value...

How to get better Fuel, and Gas Ecconomy for your Vehicle

A 2X4 is a sure bet to increase mileage. My 2001 Dakota gets 17 m.p.g. at 60 m.p.h. Slow down to 50 and it goes up to 21 to 22. For local blacktop driving it works good. Out on the highway it's better to speed up than get run over and get waved at. Driving habits are still the most important...

Could I get your e-mail address, J.R. I am looking for the same information, only on a 1970 4020 gas, synchro-range,with H.F.W.A. I'm having a 2-cylinder research done on this tractor as of friday. Thanks for any production information that you may have.

    shop size

I just built a 60 x 88 and, like everybody says, it's too small. Probably could have shaved alot of cost, but I've waited my whole life to build one and wanted to do it right. It's 100% concrete and both doors are overhead doors. They keep dust/wind/rodents/ out. Also a floor drain. Build it...
