    Have seen several 4R100's & E40D's that when transmission is stalled and temp gets high front pump seal leaks but after it cools down it seals. Have had others that had to replace the seal.

    The best advice I can give is if you don't have any diagnostic equipment find someone that has a good reputation that does. In the long run it will save you time and money. The flow chart Hobo posted is good to follow, that's what Ford has their techs to use.

    2040 #1 low compression- did ether do this?

    If the pistons are still in the block, check the piston height on them when the cylinder is on top dead center. Check to see if they .come up to the same height in the cylinder when you rotate the engine to top dead cylinder. Maybe put the one you have out back in to compare it with the others.

    Have you had the rod checked to make sure it's not bent or twisted? Maybe between the bad injector and using either bent the rod causing the low compression. Being before the pump quit it was not misfiring on cyl 1 that might be something to check, The rings where not broken and no burnt valves...
