    Tractor runs fine then dies

Thank you for your reply. I think the float was the problem . The float wasn't dropping enough to fully open the needle valve, the float was only dropping 1.3 and it should be 1.6, after making that adjustment it runs fine. It was getting enough gas when idling but not when a load was put on it...

    Tractor runs fine then dies

Thank you for your reply, I don't think it's the valves, I had some carb problems after I flipped her over backwards, it hit hard, right on the radiator cap, crushed the tank, steering wheel, and seat, by the grace of God I got out of the seat but still took 7 operations to get me right...

    Tractor runs fine then dies

Thanks Ron, yes I have full flow, carb is super super clean, sediment bowl clean...so 8 am working outside on this and before dark I pulled the carb off, took it in on the workbench and went I've it again, the flat was moving freely and didn't have a hole in it but when I checked the float, the...

    Tractor runs fine then dies

No, no trash in tank, new sediment bowl, clean as a whistle, it puzzles why I can let it sit there at half throttle and it will run itself out of gas, but as soon as I start working it....I dunno. Could it be a governor issue ? This began several days ago, but on that day I plowed for 4 or 5...

    Tractor runs fine then dies

Thank you, nope definitely not a moisture problem, cap is totally dry, coil not hot. It's strange, I'm just plowing along slow and smooth, engine humming, then it's will miss a couple of times then just die, hit the key, it fires right up runs smooth, I put it in reverse and start back up, it...

    Tractor runs fine then dies

Had a surge problem with my Cub and per good advice here I cleared that up and was plowing snow, ( 2nd gear about half throttle) I plowed for a couple of hours and it was doing fine, then it just up and shut off, it started right up and would run for a minute, or two then spit and sputter and...

    Surging and stalling

Ok, I have gotten some great tips here so 8 am back for more, after replacing plugs, wires, points, condenser, distributor cap, you barely bum the key and it fires right up, even after 10 days tarped outside with temps below 20 degrees, now it's developed a surge problem, I was plowing snow and...

    Surge problems

Thank you, it's an IH carb, the idle screw is currently at 1 1/4- 11/2 turns out, I will try tightening the screws that hold the two halves together, I was very cautious not to over tighten them in fear of stripping them, so I will check them first then maybe play with the idle screw. One thing...

    Surge problems

Thanks for the reply. I don't get any surge when starting up, I start it up and it idles fine. I was plowing snow the other day and I increased my speed a little and it was fine until I got to the end and pushed in the clutch, then it began surging, it also only seems to surge for a short time...

    Surge problems

Ok, so I had some carb and ignitions with my Cub, and with perseverance and some good tips from here 8 ironed them out, my float was badly out of adjustment, I fixed that then tackled some ignition problems and replaced everything, plugs , wires, points, condenser, cap and finally my ignition...

    No spark at points

Ahhh, I love this. Ok so where do I get one of these diodes, and what size ? This won't hurt anything running it to the hot side of the coil ? As I said I touched it on the hot side and it did excite my alternator and began charging right away, but I wasn't sure if I could safely hook it up there.
