    48, 8N, 6 volt, front mount. Last week the wiring harness started to smoke JMOR helped me with it. I had to replace the ignition switch, coil and moved the positive ground wire to the engine block. Now, the tractor will run for 2 or three seconds and then die. It will start right back up...

    JMOR, not sure what you mean by that but love ya just the same. OK, so....ignition switch was trash (replaced it) and the coil was fried by the "short". It will run for 3-5 seconds with 75% throttle and 1/2 choke. It's 100 degree's in Texas..... should not take that much, ideas? Since the...

    Yup, you are correct!!! Full throttle, full choke and starter fluid that tells me I need to overhaul the carb. I'll let you know how it comes out!! You guys are the greatest!

    On the support panel that the battery tray mounts to. Yes but with spray cans I didn't disassemble anything, I was looking for that NASCAR paint job (looks good at 50 ft). My grandfather had his grounded off to a corner bolt on the head. I don't know...

    Thanks! There is only one black wire in this harness. It goes from the "G" on the generator and is grounded to the base plate of the VR. I used the diagram and it should work.... don't know what I did wrong or where to start. Generator is original to the tractor (sr# 135902) original VR...

    Posts are marked with a "G" and "F". I used a pair of slip joint pliers I thought you polarized it with Bat and Arm on the VR?

    There is a thick yellow wire that runs from the starter, through the volt meter and to the bottom connection of the resistance block and there is a wire at that same location that runs to the VR, Think I found the culprit. Switch yellow and black wires?[/img]

    no put in a new battery, polarized the VR, turned on gas, ignition and pushed starter button. I looked at the VR, it says 6 volt, positive ground A circuit (not sure what that is).
