    Square Bale Accumlator

I have been looking at the Steffens accumulator. I just started the research so know real info yet. I don't like the idea of dragging the bales on the ground. I do worry that I would be dragging tha rear of the accumulator on the ground in some fields, mainly on entering and exiting.

A Better Way To Carry Hay

I should have said; handling bales by the strings or wires with some form of metal hook will cause problems.

A Better Way To Carry Hay

Don't let my opinion stop you from trying. I guess I don't fully understand your question. Between the stack wagons, accumulator/grapple, and the bale banding (Bale Bandit) equipment, the small square bale handling has been beat to death. For less than five hundred bales I would hire kids to...

    Measuring for equal cuts

Set the distance between the fence and the inside of the blade to 15 3/4". Cut the sheet three times. The end result will be three pieces the same width. You will have a small drop but if you are worried about 1/32"...... If the project will require more than one full sheet to be cut down the...

    where is the place ?

We use a two foot long piece of baling wire with a small loop on one end. Feed the wire through all the discs and wire cups and slip the end through the loop and twist. When you hit the road for a field repair you only have to grab the grinder and the loop of discs. Fewer things to look for in a...

Advice needed on Plows and Plowing

You might save yourself some time by burning the field before breaking with a moldboard plow. If you need the plant matter under the soil then set the coulters deep.

I few years ago Dad bought a used Vermeer cutter. I found a phone number on the web and called. They sent the manuals for free i believe.

    Computer which one

I just bought a new laptop/tablet that I use for work. I carry a lot of manuals in PDF format. I am having trouble working with the Windows 10 PDF program. Rumor has it that W 10 doesn't play well with Adobe.(Hopefully i will have time to dig and learn this weekend.) Check with your retailer on...

    Small scale hay baling, questions.

If you are making grass hay you might go with a wheel rake. I prefer a wheel rake on grass. It works great on heavy Rye. Not as good on sudan and Johnson grass but they will get it raked. Dealer support will be a big factor deciding between JD and NH.

    Tractor Durability

The down fall I see coming with newer tractors will be the electronics. The five year old laptop I used at work had to be replaced to run the programs I need now. How will this apply to the ECU for the tractor engine. How long will any manufacturer keep these computers in production. Technology...

Tractor just shuts off after half hour running

I agree with Texmark. I found a clogged fuel tank vent on a John Deere system. The vacuum pulled on the tank prevented me from removing the fuel tank cap. Same problem with my father's lawn mower. The cheapest test you can get is to run with a loose fuel cap.

    OT Severe Back Pain

I have a version of spinal bifida confirmed by doctors and x-rays. About eight years ago the pain would put me on the ground. I found a GOOD chiropractor through a guy at work and am living the good life. Muscle relaxers only helped me sleep. Strengthening my lower back, core muscles and losing...

    what to charge on haying?

I agree with flying belgain. If your equipment is smaller you can drop your price per hour to reach a fair deal. We quote a price to the customer that we can come down on when we hand over a bill. If the hay is thicker and the field better than we thought the final price will go down. Your...
