JD A wheel hub will not move.

On my model R same issue, we tried everything double oxygen propane torches while under 20tons of pressure and then sledge hammers still would not move. I have read release all the bolts and drive it around a rough field for an hour works! Let us know how you get on. Russ from the UK

I am reconnecting the A and have got confused as the loom (which appears to be original) appears not to match any diagrams on line As the light feed from the regulator splits into 4 black cables 1/3 of the way between the generator and the battery. All the wiring diagrams show a line from the...

1943 JD H cracked head trying to remove coolant drain plug

I would recommend stitching to repair this, if the wall of the casing is thick enough. Getting the old plug old may continue to be a challenge. Old fashioned hammer and chisel may be best way forward. Russ

Cant get hub to move on A

I gave up on mine. But get everything really tight and under pressure (I used a 20ton jack) we found heat dissipation over the wheel did not help, then hit the pressure assembly with a sledge hammer. The shock may release it. On mine we removed the tyre and rim to gain access. Russ

44 B sediment bowl valve not shutting off

I have skimmed the surface of the three way and shut off valves in the lathe and then ground them in using valve lapping compound. It’s obvious that the design is primitive and from the examination of the valve surface every particle of rust eats into the brass surface of the actuator causing...

I have just looked in my original JD manual which may be complete or not and there is no mention. But I have had mine off so many times that I do not bother. Just tighten as you would any head and pull down without excessive force. There is a very good set of YouTube videos on rebuilding a pony...
