    Seeking opinion

Anyone want to walk me backwards through this successful repair? Super A running rough and hot. Decided the problem was fuel supply and cleaned sediment bowl, elbow screen and switched out carb for recently rebuilt one. After a some tinkering on the ignition side of things I thought to blow...

    SA gear box fill level

I get that. I"m not going to do that today. Anyway, the gear oil change is done. I"ll check back later in case anyone else has an A like this one.

    SA gear box fill level

Thanks and I know it should be there but it is not! We have a 130 and a 140 and that is exactly where the fill level plug is on them. But this A?? There is a pulley and it has what looks to be a fill level plug or drain on it but it is too high to be the level plug for the gear box. Whole...

    SA gear box fill level

I think I'm losing my marbles because I can't find a fill level plug for the gear box on 1948 Super A. It's not where it is supposed to be. I searched the archives here and can't find any mention of this anomaly. Do I just drain and refill 4.5 quarts? Does it matter much? Can I stop looking?

    Runaway

Hi Lowell, it is I. I don"t spend enough time here. When you have a problem with an old farmall this is the place to go. Hope you are well.

    Runaway

Yes and yes. Got it apart, not much wrong except way too much water and chunkies and perhaps needle bearings the assembly rolls on are trash. The neoprene sleeve between the bearing and the gear is shredded on the gear end. I'm saying the thing was frozen pretty good. It was pretty flipping cold...

    Runaway

Thanks. Don't think it's ice because we just went through a nice thaw and I had the heat on all day in the shop. I've got the linkage to the carb apart. Just not sure what the action on the output side of the governor should be when I pull throttle back. Is there any point to making the...

    Runaway

http://search.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=farmall&th=404722 Dad"s 130 is running away. I can manually tug the linkage to the carb and get it to settle down but as soon as I throttle up she won"t come back. Two questions for the wise: I"ve disconnected said linkage. Should the...

    Hugh McKay

The moderators should just pin the original thread on Dad's passing to the top of the forum. Mom is getting a tonne of e-mails from farmall folks looking for his advice who are unaware that he is gone. I would get involved with a memorial page to any extent that I can and I know Mom would...

    130 hydraulic pump leaking

The drive cog jumped the keyway. I rebuilt the innards and reattached just yesterday only to find the housing is indeed cracked. I believe I cracked it when I attached it to the flange around the flywheel. It might have cracked when the pump "fell apart." I would feel better if the later...

    130 hydraulic pump leaking

Yeah, well how funny is this? I found this in the archives with the C diagram. It's Dad: [i:9694222a20]John: As I said earlier I have never had one these pumps apart. In looking at one I would say there should be a gasget, where the two sections go together. I have never had to do repair at...

    130 hydraulic pump leaking

A leak has formed around the hydraulic pump housing. When the system is working oil squirts out. Before I get started with the repair: is it just a gasket that is causing the problem? Anything I need to watch out for? I can't seem to find the manuals or a definitive answer in the archives.

three point hitch on super A or Farmall 140

I have blueprints for a homemade three point hitch my Dad designed. It works great. You can switch from fast hitch to three point hitch in less than two minutes. I don't think it is a costly thing to build.
