I have been busy helping grandson build pasture fence. Between that and rain I have had no time. This afternoon it happened! I separated the track and removed the idler. Pics for reveiw. Now I assume I need to remove the rail guides to install on new idler. Is this correct? Honestly, this was...

Case 850D farm dozer track seperation

Your picture was a big help. I have looked this track over 3 or 4 times and just didn't see it! What is the best position to disassemble the track. I thought I would use a comealong to secure the tracks when I pull the bolts loose and the ratchet it down. I can use front end loader to assist if...

Hope these pics help identify the chain and how to split it apart. All the links look the same to me. The pins all have a dimple or small indention in the center.

Case 850D farm dozer track seperation

I have a Case 850D. The right front idler is making a noise sounding like a reluctant brake dragging noise. Seem to be resisting to move. I am not sure it is resisting but sounds that way and seems slower to respond. The idler is hot on the right side and cool on the lft after being used about...

    Case 850B 1990 dozer

Well I am back to troubleshooting the dozer. Here is what I have done. I have removed all the metal lines from the tilt spool valve, the blade spool, and the angle spool. I put JIC caps on the fittings where all lines connect. I started the engine, ran the RPM up to the govenor The angle...

    Case 850B 1990 dozer

Well, I have taken out plugs and looked at springs and poppers. Saw nothing out of the ordinary. I decided to run the dozer with the lines reversed on the blade. That is a pain remembering that!. After running a while the the system seems weak. The blade and tilt especially. The angle just...

    Case 850B 1990 dozer

well while waiting on the bushings I decided to put the hoses back to normal. I took a pair of voice grips to actuate the spool controlling blade. It will not raise up while against a load. So the linkage is not the problem however it needs repaired anyway. Back to the control valve.
