    hi red. it took a hammer because it's so rusty. I never heard anything when it stopped working. i'm going to look at it tomorrow. it will be spooky putting it back together without knowing for sure. maybe i will send a mouse with a camera on his back into the tranny. thank you for your input larry

    hi jim i agree but could it be a stripped spline in the tranny i'm hoping its the clutch but with my luck it's probably deeper. i'm going to look at it tomorrow and decide if a new clutch and pressure plate will cure the problem thanks alot for your input

    hi used i can hold the outer edge of the clutch and tap with a hammer where the springs used to be. the outer edge of clutch stays put but the inner hub will turn. my technical manual doesn't say anything about what could cause the tranny from turning with engine . i called jd technical...

    all of the springs were broken and missing on the clutch. the pressure plate springs were good.The pressure plate and flywheel each had a ton of rust on the surfaces so they haven't been used in a long time. that's why I 'm wondering if the clutch has anything to do with the tranny not turning...

    i took the transmission cover off and nothing is turning with engine running. i pulled engine and the clutch was missing all the springs. turned the tranny shaft by hand nothing turns in tranny, maybe hydraulic assisted? i can't pull the tranny because of where it is sitting. what is my next...
