    cub throw-out

You're right on that. That was bad info I gave above. Soak in oil. From then on use thin grease. Duh.......

What to expect from a tractor that’s been sitting for 4 to 5 years

I would take along a grease gun, an oil can and some penetrating oil. Any kind of linkage ect may be dry as a bone and some of it may be seized. And I'd for sure put some oil in each cylinder before I even attempted to roll it over. Another thing I like to do is remove the valve cover to oil the...

    cub throw-out

There is a spec, a dimension from the tips of the pressure plate forks to the pressure plate. I don't have that info with me right now. And there are two types of pressure plates. One of those is not adjustable. I hope you can get it lined out. It's frustrating to keep having the same problem.

    cub throw-out

I agree with those above: Clutch adjustment. Riding the clutch. A pressure plate fork with a sharp edge. Pressure plate forks not adjusted properly. Then there's the part about pumping a new throwout bearing full of a cheap, thin grease a few days before the bearing is installed. Then using that...

    Case VC Spark plugs

I've used the NGK AB-6 in DC tractors and they work fine. I'll have to look those other NGK numbers up and see if any of those are non-resistor plugs. I read somewhere recently that some big company has bought Autolite, Fram ect and all of those brands (several) will be back in business. I sure...

Case DC ring and pinion help

Actually that backlash of 0.005" sounds correct. The pinion on my 1944 DC3 is marked 5BL. And the pinion on my 1951 DC3 is marked 6BL. In this case I would work with it a little. You could for example add a 0.003" to the pinion bearing carrier and see what kind of a pattern you get in the blue...

Need a little help with brake shoe direction - 1952 Case VAI

I agree that automotive brakes are more finely tuned than tractor brakes. But there is no way that 1/4" of shoe contact is anywhere close to being right.

Need a little help with brake shoe direction - 1952 Case VAI

I don't know if it's still done but brake shops used to radius grind brake shoes to fit the drums. That was done to solve the situation you have, minimal shoe contact. There may be a shop in your area that does that work.

    '53 SC now won't start. (Maybe I'm brain-dead - can't be complicated....)

It might be a stuck valve. And push rods bend pretty easy. You can turn the engine without a hand crank. Remove the spark plugs, put the transmission in neutral, have the clutch engaged, then turn the engine with the belt pulley. it should turn freely. If not I'd remove the valve cover and take...

    Fairbanks Morse FM B4B magneto

I looked that up. It's a battery ignition that has the coil built into it. It looks like they made 2 cylinder and 4 cylinder versions. And the Wico XB is the same type of ignition. https://oldcroak.com/fmb2b-fmb4b-battery-ignition/ https://oldcroak.com/fmb2b-fmb4b-1/

Head and pan gasket for 800

For the pan gasket I would glue the gasket to the pan with something like High Tack. The sticky, brush on gasket adhesive/sealer. That would make a good seal and keep the gasket from moving during install. Between the pan gasket and the block I'd use No. 2 Permatex. It would do a good job of...

    "D" radiator question

Hopefully this link will work. There is a copy of a factory wiring diagram https://forums.yesterdaystractors.com/threads/wiring-for-case-sc.1474655/

    1948 Case DC

Yes what you have is for the earlier motor lift/mechanical lift. I put one of those on a DC a couple of days ago. On the hydraulic bail the cylinder attaches to the bottom left of the bail. The forward end of the cylinder would attach to the front/left of the draw bar support. I looked those...

    1948 Case DC

Gene you will need this lifting bail for the hydraulic lift......... In one of those pics I could see where the hydraulic cylinder attaches to the draw bar support. I also noticed there is a coolant heater in the lower radiator line. I've wondered if that could be done...
