    Oil Leaking from somewhere

Great description and I really appreciate the photos. Any suggestions where I go to buy a plug button or can I use a simple plastic pipe plug? I have a hoist and barn, and work on cars and ATVs, but am new to tractors. Does replacing the rear main seal require splitting the tractor?

    Oil Leaking from somewhere

I do not remember the clutch slipping at all in high or low gear. As I read your comment about the failed rear main seal, I did have issues with the hydraulics level dropping and know the hydraulic oil moves from the front to the back PTO with use of the rear lever. It got to the point last fall...

    Oil Leaking from somewhere

Dick, thanks so much for the information. I will get a pipe plug and install it. I agree that the leak looks to be coming from the rear of the motor. I was wondering if oil could burp out the breather by the dipstick. When it warms up outside, I am going to clean the tractor and see if I can...

    Oil Leaking from somewhere

I am a new Case 311b owner. I am at a loss for a couple issues I am having. I have uploaded 3 photos to help visualize them: 1. Please help Identifying a plug that is in the side of the tractor. Does it need to be replaced with real plug or is it just a rag to keep out dirt? 2. I have oil...

    HYDRAULIC OIL OR ENGINE OIL

John, I am more confused now. The manual says to use 10W engine oil or Transmission A oil, the previous owner says 30W oil (not sure if it is engine or hydraulic), and you are saying use hytran of some weight. I have to add some oil to my hydraulic bucket on my 1959 Case 311b tractor. Please help

    HYDRAULIC OIL OR ENGINE OIL

I purchased an old Case 311b tractor with a hydraulic loader. The seller mentioned to use straight 30 weight oil in the hydraulics, but I never asked if it was 30 weight hydraulic oil (ISO 100) or 30 weight engine oil. It seems logical to use hydraulic oil in hydraulics, but I have read that...

    Case 311b hydraulic help

It does have a diverter valve. I have tried it in both positions (forward for bucket, back for 3 pt) and nothing moves. I also followed the hydraulic lines along to check for leaks, and didn't see any leaks or quick couplers disconnected. I am wondering if I have a plugged line or if the...

    Case 311b hydraulic help

I am a "new" owner of a 1959 Case 311b tractor with loader. I have successfully been using it for several months hauling sand, trees, brush, etc. However, it sat for a couple months and the last time I took it out, the hydraulics were not working. I can hear the pump, but neither bucket moves...
