    75 Tip index

I've used the tip list for some time and am very thankful for it. I recently did a lot of repair to my side distributor 8N and the list was helpful several times. Having to scan a lot of items to find what I needed got me to thinking it would be nice to have an index for it. So I sat down last...

    Fan blades hitting shroud

Finally got back to the fan problem after spending a week with a muscle spasm in my back. Wound up removing the fan and grinding the tips of the blades. Installing the fan and without the hood attached, it ran with absolutely no fan hits at any RPM speed. However.......with the hood attached...

    Fan blades hitting shroud

Thanks gentlemen. All I've been able to do since posting is to check the fan blade for wobble. It's nice and tight. So as soon as I can get some help, I'll take off the hood and see where it's hitting. Can't tell with a flash light. Will post an update when I've done that. And since I...

    8n Hydraulics

Thanks Bob, and also Ohiojim re soaking the leather seal. I had thought the oil passage way might be through the end casting but could not find any reference to it anywhere I looked. Will probably be next week before I can take the lift cover off, and all post what I find when I get it off.

    8n Hydraulics

I'm going to replace the hydraulic cylinder and piston in my 8N, side mount distributor. I've been looking at the manuals and on line sites about how to do it. I'm confortable with everything expect two things: the oil tube, and soaking the leather ring in water. It seems wrong to soak it in...

    8n differential leak

Thanks for all the help gentlemen. I"ve gone the J B Weld route and so far so good. I hesitated to drill a stop hole. Are the chances high of getting metal shavings from the drill bit into the hydraulic fluid? Merry Christmas to one and all!

    8n differential leak

Season's greeting ladies and gentlemen. My 8N has a two inch hairline crack in the bottom of differential case and is leaking excessively. It's not pouring, but much more than I want on the shop floor. At first I thought it was the PTO seal, but cleaning it up has revealed the hairline...
