For Tx Jim or JD Seller

Thanks for the reply Tx Jim. You have been an invaluable resource for me this year as I've gotten started in this whole "Hobby Farm" exercise. So far your advice has been spot on. I truly appreciate it.

For Tx Jim or JD Seller

Hi Guys, About a month ago I posted about the hydraulic oil in my 3010 getting very hot while I was running a wood splitter with it's own control valve. You said I needed to get a control valve with a closed center, which I did. However, now the hydraulic control lever on the tractor won't...

    3010 hydraulic oil getting HOT!

Tx Jim, I got a closed center valve, but now I can"t get the lever on the tractor to stay in the float position. Any idea why?

    NH 268 baler problem

Thanks to everyone who responded. The fix was, as several suggested, to simply move the knotters through their cycle by manually turning the flywheel forward. I had been trying to turn it backwards in the hope that I would "undo" whatever bad thing had happened that prevented the knotters from...

    NH 268 baler problem

Thanks for the response. I replaced the shear bolt and tried turning the flywheel backwards, but it doesn't seem to move the knotters. The manual talks about tripping the knotters and rotating part way through the cycle, just not sure how to get it to go the rest of the way.

    NH 268 baler problem

Hi, I left my baler out overnight and it got rained on, soaking the bales that were in the chamber. When I went to bale a couple of days later, the first bale kicked out, but then the PTO shear bolt went. When I got looking, the needles are still in the bale chamber, and the safety kept the...

    3010 hydraulic oil getting HOT!

Tx Jim and David G, Thanks for the replys. I don't know a lot about hydraulics, but I did some research and what you're saying makes sense. If I install a closed center conversion plug, will I need to also install a pressure relief valve, or will everything work fine if I put the hydraulics...

    3010 hydraulic oil getting HOT!

Hi, I have a 3010 Diesel. I recently bought a wood splitter that runs off the tractor's hydraulics. I've never really done much with the hydraulics before except to raise and lower implements. Anyway, after about 30 minutes of running the splitter, I went to disconnect the hoses from the...

Loader on a 3010, good idea?

Thanks rrlund, That's kind of what I was thinking too. I would use it to handle round bales and clean out calf pens. Not going to be using it for landscaping, etc. Bret

    Sorry....spindles? On the loader?

Which mower should I use with NH 268?

Thanks Paul. I'm on high flat ground baling an Alfalfa/grass mix with a JD 3010, so 8 forward gears. Sounds like I don't need to worry too much about the size of the windrows, just vary my speed and I'll be ok. Thanks again, Bret

Loader on a 3010, good idea?

Hi, I have a 3010 and I am thinking about putting a JD 148 loader on it. Is there any reason this is not a good idea? Some of the "real" farmers around me say the 3010 isn't strong enough structurally to handle a loader. Of course they all run giant (to me) 150 - 250hp tractors. I just have...

Which mower should I use with NH 268?

Ray, Thanks for the reply. Does your drum mower have a conditioner of any kind? If not, do you have a separate conditioner, or don't you condition at all? If not, how is your drying time? I should have said I'm baling a 30% Alfalfa, 17.5% each of Timothy, Orchard Grass, Tall Fescue and...
