    Old-timey New-fagled slip scraper

After 55 years, she's used to that kind of stuff from me.

    Old-timey New-fagled slip scraper

It works ok but would be better with an extended flat bottom like the real ones, to carry more. Once it fills, it just starts pushing material and spilling off the sides like a straight blade would. For the little that I have to do, I'll just make more passes.

    Old-timey New-fagled slip scraper

It's been sitting for 4-5 years with the valve removed so it was well aired out and it was about an hour of cutting with a 4 1/2" grinder at 15 minutes at a time to let the grinder cool down.

    Old-timey New-fagled slip scraper

I'm sure that many of the younger and non farm folks won't know what a slip scraper is, but it is the way dirt was moved with horses before tractors, scrapers, loaders, dozers etc. were invented. You can google it and see more of the real thing. I have a real one at home in NY that I used...

    Solution---2n lower lift arms leaking

This is a follow up to a post I made some time ago.http://forums.yesterdaystractors.com/viewtopic.php?t=1296300&highlight= I finally found time to get working on my 2n lift arms to repair the leaks. When I found out that the rear end has to be pulled apart to repair it, I thought that...

    Wood shed and Getting old

Yes--- I tried them, recorded temperatures and they did not burn as hot as my good old hardwood and were a lot more expensive (a little more than pellets per ton) The reason I tried them is I always heard and thought that coal would produce much more heat than wood and be a lot less work...

    Wood shed and Getting old

I noticed that when we were up there in late spring that road diesel was cheaper than gas, down here it's the opposite. Gas today was $2.65, diesel $2.89, home heating $2.50. I assume it is sky high taxes that makes yours so high because you export about twice as much oil than you use.

    Today's funny

A friend retired from flying the fighters out of Plattsburg back when they were based there and it was a tradition that about the whole squadron goes out for a final flight when someone retires. They flew over to Maine and he had video of of a log truck coming down a mountain, so one after...

    Wood shed and Getting old

I'll be in liter country next week to see the in laws in Montreal area and know that gas was close to $4 a gallon last time we were up, but I had no idea fuel oil was up that high. I guess I'd stick with wood at that price too.

    Wood shed and Getting old

I was brought up with wood heat in the spring and fall and coal in the winter. Since getting married in 1963, we used our own wood as the prime source with oil backup for when we're out of town etc. We also have a pellet insert in the fireplace we rarely use. In recent years we started buying...

This message is a reply to an archived post by thepumpguysc on January 05, 2017 at 13:51:24. The original subject was "Re: 1983 case 1194 diesel". I do wish that folks on here would list reliable and reasonable rebuilders. If I can't get my Stanadyne straightened out soon. I may need to send...

Inj pump overhauled starts dies - making oil

A friend overhauled the injection pump in my 580 Case backhoe. I got it back together today and it starts, runs 10 - 30 seconds and dies. All lines bled, supply and return lines clear. I thought to check the oil and it is 1" overfull and I haven't added oil since change last year. I am...

    John Deere G starter ??

While digging through some shelves in the back room my friend came across a starter and asked if I'd put it on ebay for him. He used to have a starter/generator/alternator rebuilding business and a gentleman brought it in to rebuild. That was over 10 years ago and he hasn't picked it up...

    ford 2n lift arms leaking

The pin is not supposed to spin. If it does the whole pin is loose. The only way to tighten them is to gain access to that nut by taking the axle housing off. That's the reason I've been thinking of doing this. To provide a way to tighten that nut if it loosens again after years of use...

    transporting tractor with loader

Older, wiser and Johnny law probably wouldn't think it was funny today. and for fixerupper, they would track with the front wheels on the ground but occasionally when making tight turn would go all the way to the stop and stay there until you went back and straightened it out.
