Hello everyone, these were my Grandfathers, he used to disk fields and vacant lots on the weekends as a side job back in the late 60's and 70's. I've never found any paperwork on them I just know the one is a CAT D4, and the other ??? I thought it was a CAT 22? I think it ran on gasoline if...

    Ignition Coil TO30

I ordered a 12 volt coil to replace my old one (12 volt also). But before I put it on I tested the new one with my multimeter on the ohms setting and the new one is reading 1.8? Now I'm not that familiar with all this but correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that telling me its really a 6 volt...

    TO30 New Governor

No the original one did not have a shim. I wasn't sure if it was missing the shim but from what you said I suppose it may be the one that did not have one. But the ball cage worries me because they do not move freely like the original one. Most of them you literally have to click into place...

    TO30 New Governor

I got the new governor today that I ordered from this site. First it came with 2 shims? And the nut is threaded wrong, so I used the old one. I the new one supposed to be real tight in regards to the ball cage?? I mean the way it is they are real tight and don't really travel all the way...

Thankyou Steve, much appreciated. From what I can see the the bumper screw (tapered end) is touching the spring I will try to back it out a little.

    Crankshaft Pulley

I got the cover off, just took some time. I have a question about the spring inside the cover, I'll post a pic. Is it supposed to look like that? or is something rubbing wrong? Also when I pulled the cover off that tab wasn't at 8:00 it was at like 11:00. [/img:77c592aef9]

I had the same problem on my to30, one minute it was cranking the next nothing. I pulled off the starter and took it to a local shop auto electric shop to test it and yes it was toast. They rebuilt it for $85.

    TO30 Spark plugs

Just curious on what brand and type spark plug do you prefer to run in your TO30 tractor? My starter just went out so I am dropping it off later to my local electric motor shop to get rebuilt. And so I figured in the mean time I'd catch up on some maintenance on it.

    Ballast resistor

I have a question that I get confused on, and that's whether or not to use the ballast resistor. I have a TO30 and it's been converted to 12 volt. I didn't go with an Alternator I instead had the generator rebuilt to a 12 volt at a shop they also provided me with a new voltage regulator. And...
