    1951 John Deere A won't start

    Another thought is the carberator. I checked the idle screw was set at about 1/4 to 1/2 turn. I set it to about 1 1/2 turn. The load screw was around 1/4 turn. I set it to about 3/4 of a turn. Is this a good starting point for these?

    I checked the gas. I have a steady flow of gas. No obstruction there. As far as the compression. I haven't got a tester yet. There definitely is a large whoosh of air that comes out when I have the spark plug out. I'll get a tester this week. I guess the carbon on the plugs could be left over...

    Hi guys. I have a 1951 A that has not ran in over 30 years. It was my grandpas. I put a brand new rebuilt carb on the tractor, some new gauges, plugs, and wires. I also took the gas tank off and cleaned it out. I have spark at the plugs. I decided to pull it for a little bit first to lube...

    Thanks for all of the help guys. I have another question. Still not sure about the wiring from the generator. Does the field wire go to the light switch? And the other wire go to the ammeter? Thanks again.

    I have a 1951 John Deere A and need help wiring it. The only diagrams I can find are from a B. the serial number is 684512
