    1997 Dodge Cummings

A while back posted about oil pressure gauge on this Dodge I was trying out. Well I have pretty much decided against this truck because I think it has tranny problems. Occasionally when I would take off from a stop it would rev and then the tranny would grab. Decided that may be something more...

Starter drives. New Barrel drive or old spring type for 12v

Which starter drive is more forgiving when a person switches to a 12v system from a 6v system on say an M tractor. Seems to me the spring style would give more when slamming into the flywheel gear. I've seen several barrel types distroyed on a 12v switch over yet many swear by them. My thought...

    1951 B engine issue

Some time ago, I was brush hogging with my 1951 B and had been working it pretty hard. Suddenly the engine started cutting out, blowing smoke, and spitting oil out the exhaust. I figured something major broke. I took it to a fellow who does a fair amount of restoration (though doesn't...

    M5 Brush Hogging

Thanks for the advice. The front axle pushes the stuff down pretty well and I've finished that wild field. Hopefully it won't ever get that bad now that I have a good tractor. Paint can always be redone ;) I don't have a trailer that will carry it to a parade or show anyway, so it's stuck on...

    M5 Brush Hogging

Sprouts were starting to get out of control, but the M5 can handle it as long as my mower survives. Sharpening the blades did help though. :)

    MM5 Hydraulics

Worked fine last time I used it, and then went to raise the 3 pt. and the lever skipped past the stop and didn't want to go back where it belonged. No movement of the hitch parts. :-(

    M5

That's my tractor! I'd have to check with the guy that did the paint to be sure. Prairie Gold and something....

Any place in Missouri that might be able to fix my three point hitch?

    Oil return

OKay, is there somehting else I should be looking for if under load I get smoke and soot coming out of the exhaust with 100 psi of compression?

    Oil return

Okay, say you think the oil return might be blocked on your old B. Do you just take off the valve cover and poke a wire through it, or what? Thanks, Steve

    730 gas starves for fuel

I am no master mechanic, but I had fought a similar problem with a /61 MM 5. Went though the fuel tank, fuel line, intake, sediment bulb, and even got a 'new' carb. Nothing worked. Went to the guy that rebuilt the tractor and kitted the old carb. He mentioned that the carb kit came with a...

You guys are great. This should get me on the right track! Thanks

    JD B

I have a 1951 B which gave me an oil bath through the exhaust pipe while brush hogging one day. Figured I'd busted a ring or worse. Took it to a 'tractor guy'. He said it had 100 compression on both cylinders and couldn't justify tearing it apart. Took it home, drove it around a little...

    M5

Here is the 1961 M5 with my son-in-law at the helm. He had never been on a tractor bigger than a 660 Ford. ;-)
