    can you say hydrogen imbrittlement? chrome bore requires iron rings. iron bore holds more lube, also can be honed and resized. chrome on bores and crank journals are usually only about .001 thick. and prone to flaking.

    some come in real easy. others are a real pain. when you get them real close, and do the whole rotating assembly. they are amazingly smooth. the throttle is like a volume knob. no sensation just more noise. most people don't even realize the effect.

    generally an aluminum rod is about twice the section thickness of steel.

    a real automotive machine shop can recondition them. i've done them more times than i care to remember. my question is with the added size of an aluminum rod how do you plan to clear every thing. you are correct they have a rather short life expectancy.

    i don't think there is enough room for them in a 77. that is one of the sleeves we have modified and used in the 88.

    will vary depending on what ring & pinion you have. also if you have the normal or special 1st gear.

    yes it will. weight loss depends on what hubs the 77 has. i know most of the 77 & 88"s around here run the 66 front.

    it doesn't matter they are for automatic transmissions. they won't stop a clutch, pressure plate, or flywheel. i saw one go on a pick up, part of the flywheel went through the dash windshield and about 100 feet in the air. fortunately it came back down on the track and didn't hit any people...
