    Saw a JD 4055 with just under 2000 hrs. bring 48,000 dollars today,tractor looked good but not that good.

    Cat web site is beyond me!

    We use 15w40 diesel oil in ours,30weight in trans, straight no. 10 in hydralics finaldrives take no. 50. got over 25000 hrs. on our D6D bought new in 1977,good old machine.

    IH 1086 Conversion To MFWD

    Italked to my neighbor today. He said his frontend is an Elwood,also said he may consider saleing but he was woundering what you may be willing to give for it.

    I have neighbor that took one off his 1086 was working good he got a bigger tractor and didn"tneed it anymore. He round bails with the 10 and it will turn shorter on the ends without the front asist.

    856 engine -407

    Thanks guys for the info thats also my problem, all the good machine shops around here are gone and a couple of the others wont touch these engines either. Will a 414 IH engine fit the 856, Im kind of gun shy on rebuilding this engine again or what would you guys do?

    856 engine -407

    Did an overhaul on engine with new sleeves & pistons. Had sleeves replaced at machine shop and pistons fit.Tractor ran only 65 hrs. after overhaul and started to brake the top of sleeves on every cylinder, where the sleeves put in too tight or were they too loose? Anyone else ever had this happen?
