Ford 5000 Hydraulic problem from stuck unload valve!

Well that's confusing. I have a 3 part manual and those sections that only include the Super Major and not the 5000 are not helpful because i don't know what's different. I clued in to one difference where the lift covered referred to had 12 bolts, but the 5000 has 15 so i knew there was a...

Ford 5000 Hydraulic problem from stuck unload valve!

Do you have a recommendation for a good service manual for this 69 5000? I have a Jensales re print that is quite lousy. Many pictures are hard to make out and many sections refer to the Super Major 5000 and not just the 5000 so i'm never sure the similarities.

Ford 5000 Hydraulic problem from stuck unload valve!

Hi Guys, Yall gave me tips on why my hydraulics were intermitten. I was running a square baler the other day, for about 3 hours (which was the hardest work the system had in done in a few years, after simply replacing the tractor hydraulic fluid which 'fixed" my first problem, when the whole...

Ford 5000, 1969 model, using draft control

And i am in a position to purchase new tires for said 5000. Any suggestion on size? Sounds like they are $1000 each from LeSchwab. Should i stick with 18.4-34 if i decide to use a 16" plow bottom or get narrower tires if available? There is so much i don't know as far as these decisions! I...

Ford 5000, 1969 model, using draft control

And would anyone be willing to list a few good plow manufacturers that i might look for at an auction or online used?

Ford 5000, 1969 model, using draft control

Thanks for that extra detail about the position and draft control. Could be too small a plow set up.

Ford 5000, 1969 model, using draft control

Thanks for all that... My arms are not the extendable type. And i'm not schooled up on Cat 1 vs 2 so not anything on my part with adapter bushings. I'll look at my tires. My rear tire does fit in that 12" furrow, but i'm sure it's tight. Or perhaps its smashing the plow side as i go. Sounds...

Ford 5000, 1969 model, using draft control

Ha! So you're saying a 5000 can easily handle, or should handle, a 3-bottom? I guess i should look for one. With what little i know using the draft control i was definitely plowing too deep. Easy 10" and that might explain why most of the time the sod (unplowed pasture for more than 20...

Ford 5000, 1969 model, using draft control

Hi there- New to plowing, which i know has a steep learning curve. I think i've adjusted my two bottom, Leinbach Line plow correctly after making a giant mess of our field, but i'm left with questions about using draft control. I read what i could on this site and others before i bothered...

PTO and 3-point occasionally work on Ford 5000

Thanks for the above bits of advice. I will look up how to flush the system and for sure change the oil. The hour meter is not working and the tractor was new to me last year. The tachometer is working at least.

PTO and 3-point occasionally work on Ford 5000

I have a 1969 Ford 5000 that we just did an engine overhaul on and it's running great. Back to the problem we had before... The PTO and 3-point will work sometimes. I cannot figure out what's going on. It has enough hydraulic fluid, albeit it's got water in it, and even ran a square baler the...

ford 5000 new engine? Any advice on where to get?

Does anyone know what a short block for this 5000 would weigh? I'm finding a hoist to borrow and someone has an electric one capable of 800lbs

ford 5000 new engine? Any advice on where to get?

Ok thanks. I might have to go that route if we find this block is no good for boring and resleeving.
