Antifreeze coming out of 2N head nuts

Here's a short note: The 2N has around five hours on it since the valve job No coolant leaks Runs well I didn't add anything to the coolant to stop the leak. Just a good heat cycle. Thanks for all the inputs Stan

Antifreeze coming out of 2N head nuts

Yeah, I actually did put a piece of cardboard in front to stop the airflow. But I guess it's a good thing it won't get hot without being under a load.

Antifreeze coming out of 2N head nuts

Here's a bit of an update I did an engine run yesterday and of course the engine and exhaust smoked for a while. I couldn't get the coolant temp up above about 140F. Outside air temp was somewhat below freezing. When the smoke subsided and I was able to observe the leaky spots. The leaks...

Antifreeze coming out of 2N head nuts

Once again, thanks for the thought provoking comments. I do give each one serious consideration. I don't want this project to get a life of it's own and end up doing a rebuild from the outside in. Backwards that is. So if the leaks persist after a good heat cycle, I'll remove the head and take...

Antifreeze coming out of 2N head nuts

I totally agree. And the only things I did was plane the head, change the gasket and clean the head nuts with a tap. Before I did any of these things there was no antifreeze leak anywhere. So I did something to cause the leak. The head was planed by a machine shop specializing in this kind of...

Antifreeze coming out of 2N head nuts

First of all thank you all for your replies. I shall take them all under consideration. I'll try to respond to the suggestions in the order that they came in. When I put the head gasket on it was tight passing the threaded part of the head studs but lower down it was not binding at all. I did...

Antifreeze coming out of 2N head nuts

I've had the head on my 2N planed and reinstalled with a new gasket because I needed to replace the valves. I've torqued the head gradually to 55 ft lbs. Now I put antifreeze back into the system, and antifreeze is pooling on top of three head nuts. the pooling is on numbers 15,5 and 18 as...

Is this a 1.5 ohm ballast resistor?

But why not just use the multimeter to measure the resistance to find the value of the resistor?

Is this a 1.5 ohm ballast resistor?

IF the voltage applied is 4.87vdc IF the current is 5.43 amps THEN the resistance is .89689245 ohms AND remember than an englishman's 'OUSE is his 'OHM

2N Ran Last Spring But Not Now

My 2N does that periodically. I dismantle the carb and blow out the passages with carb cleaner spray. then it works again. Stan

    Today's funny

Fry's in Apache Junction AZ has done exactly this without the 'upper level' thing. A bar right in the middle of the deli section! Kind of like a daycare for unwilling shoppers Stan

Resistor in ignition circuit .... question ??

You've hit it right on the head. My 2N has the same wire wound (large french fry shaped resistor) and has been converted to 12 volts. The starter is still 6volts so it cranks over like there's no tomorrow. If it's reluctant to start, I must discipline my self to not crank too long. I'm sure...
