    Honda Engine

How much oil are you needing to put in? Most small engines use some oil. Some manufacturers say 1 ounce per cylinder per hour is not unreasonable. You say it is on a leaf blower. What shape is the air filter in? You aren't blowing the filter out are you? No small engine manufacturer...

214 starts fine, soon gets goofy with chronic issue

    1. When was the last time you adjsted your valves? An intake valve not fully seated can allow part of the combustion back into the intake and screw up the fuel mix. This will happen after the engine warms up. It might be a good idea to remove the cylinder head and valves and inspect the valves...

    Hercules IXB engine

I got a set from Hercules Engine Parts 704-745-1475. There are two diameters though, so you may still have to take yours out. I bet Zimmerman Oliver Cletrac has them as well.

Lower seal in a Kawasaki 21

If you are finding kits, are they genuine Kawasaki parts?. For lawnmower engine parts, kawasaki does not offer any over size pistons. Kawasaki usually makes the customer order every little part they need to do a job too. As far as replacing the bottom (pto) seal: You are looking at the mower...

    Wicked saw

Isn't that called a 'bow saw' (or some such.) I would think slightly less likely to pinch the bar, but I bet there were times they sawed clear through and then couldn't get the saw back out.

    Simplicity Tractors Refurb Thread.

The 'wavy' on the rim lip was probably from trying to pry the tire off the rim. You can help straighten it a lot with some judicious use of vice grips. If it was me, I would skip the tubeless step and go directly to tubes.

    MM governor id

I was thinking power unit too. Maybe a combine engine. That external spring is not common.

Going to need help with the French car

Is the timing adjustable? If so, you might try retarding the timing a few degrees and see if the backfiring improves. If it was a Briggs and Stratton, I would say check your flywheel key. I am also thinking a leaner fuel mix might contribute to backfiring.

Help Identifying A 1948-1952 Starter Drive

If you are looking for another starter drive, is there a tag still on the starter? The bendix you show makes me think 'aftermarket' because of the cover just behind the gear. Another thought: if you are looking for another bendix, you might post again on the Tractor Talk forum. More people...

Vanguard 35hp no vacuum pulse from manifold

I am aware that some Vanguard engines do connect the fuel pump to the manifold. I don't think you can measure the vacuum as it pulses each time the intake valve opens. You can test your fuel pump with a hand vacuum pump. Connect your vacuum pump to the pulse port on the pump. Hold your...

    JD Z255 mower

I am thinking your Deere Z255 has a Kawasaki engine on it. If you are saying the RPM goes up a noticeable amount, stays there for a while, then comes back down, I am thinking your governor in your engine has worn internal parts. But first, check that the link between the governor arm and the...

Cub Cadet 1650 - governor or carb issue

Those insulated spade connectors should work fine. If you are keeping records on the machine, it may be helpful in the future if you make a sketch of which wire goes where on the switch.

    BF avery 1x b3 parts

I know you like to low-buck-it, but I would spring for the new rings. I don't know where you have checked for parts, but Hercules Engine Parts in Ohio, Zimmerman Oliver/Cletrac in PA and Bill Williams in Baldwyn MS have helped me with Hercules parts in the past. P.S. Nothing is cheap for a...

Cub Cadet 1650 - governor or carb issue

You did check the flow of fuel through the fuel line didn't you? To see if you are getting a good flow not just a dribble. What kind of fuel filter did you install? Is it a small engine fuel filter or automotive? Some automotive filters are made to work with fuel pumps and don't flow enough...

Do you have the original belt cover installed? The belt on those Jacobsen Chiefs is really long, and even though the idler pulley is giving the belt some slack, the weight of the belt will keep the transmission pulley spinning, thus making the transmission hard to shift (without grinding the...
