    9N STARTER

I have a friend of a friend saying his '37 60 AMP car starter will fit a 9N tractor as they were the same. I don't agree. The "9N" prefix defines it as being a unique feature to the 9N tractor. If a Ford part crossed over to other modules it would be listed as such. Tim *PloughNman* Daley(MI)

Ford 4830 3 pt position control not lifting high enough

I use various 3pt implements - a landscape rake, shredder, a forestry winch. I have noticed that the 3pt lift is not lifting very high at all. For the shredder, I don't really need it to lift high, but for the rake and my winch, when working on sloped ground, I'm continually running into...

Ford 4830 PTO stopping under load

I do believe I have figured out the issue. Operator error. The independent PTO on this tractor (you don't use the clutch pedal to engage it), has a lever and a guide plate. There are 3 positions on the guide plate, but I was using it as if there were only two positions. 1. Disengaged...

Ford 4830 PTO stopping under load

I do know that my fluid is a bit low. My bucket cylinders were leaking real bad and I had them both rebuilt. I'll check that first. thx

Ford 4830 PTO stopping under load

I've recently installed a PTO skid winch. The Winch is rated at over 10K lbs of pulling force. However, when even trying to skid a 1-2K lb dried hackberry log, the Winch fails to pull it in. It's a brand new Norse 450. I removed the winch's cover plates and monitored what was happening...

'94 Ford 4830 is not charging battery

Thanks Rod. I removed the dash and swapped the charge bulb with another bulb. The bulb is good, just never coming on. Next step is to dig into the wiring repair and determine what's going on. Todd

'94 Ford 4830 is not charging battery

This is a fairly new to me tractor. I've had it about 4-5 months. Prior to me getting it, the previous owner took it into the dealer to have some wiring replaced due to mice eating it. I've come to the conclusion the battery is not charging when the tractor is running. I can charge the...

    Adding liquid ballast to tires

Good idea. As of now, with some of my bigger logs, the rear of the tractor comes off the ground. I know there's a limit on what can be lifted. I have a Bush Hog QT 2426 FEL, and I'm pretty sure I've exceeded it's capacity a couple times.

    Adding liquid ballast to tires

I added water/WWF to the rear tires. What a difference! However, first use after adding the ~1400 lbs of counterbalance, I blew out a seal on my front right bucket cylinder. Not too surprising though, because this tractor has sat outside since '94 and only had 548 hours on it when I bought...

    Adding liquid ballast to tires

My local tire store said they would do it for $20/tire if I haul the tractor over there. No brainer.

    Adding liquid ballast to tires

    I meant to say $150/drum.

    Adding liquid ballast to tires

I checked my manual. (Duh.) I have 16.9/30 6 ply tires. Manual says a mixture of 59 gallons of water + 295 lbs of CaCl to equal 785 lbs PER WHEEL! If I add WWF, I suppose I could just order two 55 gallon drums from the local Auto Parts for $150/gallon. Does that sound right...

    Adding liquid ballast to tires

I have a '94 Ford 4830 2WD with FEL. I would like to add liquid ballast to the rear tires. How much washer fluid do I need for each tire? And I'm guessing I will want to install tubes if I don't have tubes already? Thanks!

Case DB 1210 rear lift operation

Never mind, I figured it out by following the hydraulic lines. On my tractor, the rear lift is operated via the lower hydraulic valve. It was sticking, but I was able to free it. Seems my quadrant lever and lift speed dial are disabled (or otherwise completely inoperative).

Case DB 1210 rear lift operation

I've had this tractor about a year. It's sat for about 10 months of that time. I went to operate the rear lift today and it would not move. I don't recall checking the rear lift when I bought it. This tractor has a 530CK FEL on it. It does not have a rear lift selector switch and I don't...
