    ford 800 camshaft gear question

See if your machine shop can cut the thrust side of the gear down enough and make a brass spacer that will compensate for the wear, I have not had any luck with a spacer less than 1/8 of a inch and with 2 small chamfers to make sure oil can get to the trust surface.

    greasing leaf springs?

I have never used grease but many years ago we used kerosene or diesel oil sprayed on them to make them slide easier when they flex. Many service station use to lubricate them on cars and even the rubber bushings as well. it eliminated some noises in the vehicle.

    Testing engine oil for contaminants??

The answer to your question is NO, you cannot test the oil correctly by yourself. You may have a parts supplier in your area that has a oil testing program. like Carquest, Caterpillar John Deere etc. when the test is run they will break the oil down and report to you anything that is in the...

    1800A Sleeve Shims

Shims are installed under the lip of the liner to bring the height of the liner up so that it sticks slightly above the level of the block. This insures that when the cylinder head is fastened down that the sleeves will not move up and down and also that the top edge will seal properly. As a...
