    8n late model steering box issue

    I literally just changed them but maybe the shaft was ground down more than I suspected allowing the bearings to fall out of the race. Do you know if the tube can be removed from the base plate for easier inspection.

    This isn't the upper thrust bearing that goes in the bottom of the steering shaft that I'm missing. It's the one with the spring at the very top of the shaft by the steering wheel. How does it prevent the shaft from unscrewing out of the worm gear and pushing out of the tube?

    I am trying to repair the steering box on a 51/52 8n and am having a problem. I rebuilt all the sector gears and worm gear, but the kit I bought didn't have the bearings for the top of the shaft.
