Soldering a radiator tank to core

I am soldering the tank back on the radiator core on my Farmall 504. It developed a leak where the two meet so I un-soldered it and cleaned and straightened the area to be soldered. My question is should I use the little Propane torch to solder it or the acetylene torch with a brazing tip? I...

    temp gauges

Added a temp guage to my "51 TO30. There is a place for the temp probe where the top radiator hose connects to the engine. Guess that"s part of the thermostat housing.

is 4 gauge wire heavy enough for battery cable?

I changed my "51 TO30 to 12 volt years ago and have not had any problems with it. Used regular automotive battery cables from auto parts store. Like the other guys stated, don"t grind the starter too long without letting it cool off.

    TO30 starter switch SMOKING???

Hey fellas, went ahead and removed the switch. I was thinking it was a lot more complicated than that. It's got to be a worn-out switch contacts, nothing else there that could smoke. It looks a lot like the old Chevy truck switch that had the starter switch in the floor. (Y'all remember them...

    TO30 starter switch SMOKING???

Anyone have a good picture of the starter switch located underneath the battery on a 1951 TO30?? I"m putting my TO30 back together and when I hook the battery up, I"m getting smoke coming from the starter switch underneath the battery. I DO have the polarity correct. The smoke is coming out of...

Painting my "51 now with MF-GRAY from Tractor Supply. They have it in spray cans or by the quarts. Not sure if it"s the original color of the TO30"s or not. Have fun

    foot rest, side step to-30

The footrests/side steps on my 1951 TO30 pretty much match except for some asbestos looking material underneath the right side. I guess it"s there to reflect some of the muffler heat which is close and directly underneath that area.

    TO30 rear axle seals???

Thanks Bruce and John for the info. on the seals. Will check for too much oil tomorrow, sounds like it"s quite a job to replace the seals so hopefully it"s just too much oil.

    TO30 rear axle seals???

Hello all. Got to replace the rear axle seals on my 1951 TO30. Does anyone know of any videos or guides to getting it done? Never been into the rear end of the tractor. What all seals should be replaced while it's apart? etc. Thanks

Gasket Exchange -upload and download gaskets-

Sounds like a good idea to me. Who knows when he'll be working on a project and need a gasket that is "available tomorrow" or "I can order it for you". This idea could be a real time-saver. Good luck with it. BTW, anyone have a TO30 list like Kurt has with his JD. Thanks

    Original Ferguson color?

Does anyone know the actual factory color of the TO30's in 1951? I see some on various tractor sites that are all gray and then some with a combination of gray and red. Thanks

    What year is my Ferguson???

Thanks guys. I had already investigated and thought it was a '51, but wanted confirmation. Was sold to me by a dealer as a '54 and thought all these years that it was. Go figure! It has been out of commission for a few years and am now in the process of getting it back in shape. Runs pretty good...
