    whine or growl coming from clutch or first reduction area when clutch is engaged and tractor is moving, seems to be louder with increased load, no whine when going downhill.no whining when clutch engaged while stationary.thought of pulley bearing but it only spins when clutch is disengaged.what...

    Not sure, this tractor was completely rebuilt 16 yrs ago and has not ran 10 hrs. it has been under its blankie until I got it. Just strange how one was so tight and the other valves within reason.I tried it again and it seemed better.only time on it will tell,thanks all for the posts.

    Pulled valve cover off,r/s intake valve set at .003" when cold, I suspect once it was hot and metal expansion occurred,intake valve slightly open when cylinder fired allowing hot gasses back into carb causing carb to heat up.set valves to .025" cold,since it calls for .020" hot.gonna try it out.

    Just bought a 37 Unstyled A.Manifold seemed to get hot enough to heat the carb hot enough to boil fuel in carb and all the way back to sediment bowl. Bubbles in sediment bowl like an air stone in a fishtank. Let it cool off and tractor runs fine. Coolant teperature is 190 deg F. This tractor...
