OT :Favorite model year for autos

I know what you mean, the high prices for old cars now. The problem is that the effects of time and the current craze to rod perfectly good restored cars have driven up the value of many cars. If you want good value, I would avoid MOPAR right now. Much of the good stuff is bringing crazy...

    select o speed opinion

I am thinking about buying a non running 871 diesel select o speed. Is the tranny a good thing, or should I run, not walk for the exit? What about the engine? Durable? Well thought of? I have heard the transmission is a POS, others have said they are ok. Any advice would be great...

    north vs south

My best guess is there are more Ns sold in the south than the north. Why? The N and several other tractors were designed to replace the one horse or mule on a small farm. Where was most of this farming prevelent? The south. With in a two mile radius of my house (I'm in SC) I have counted 6...

    Mystery Ford - part 2

Could be a mix of several tractors. Just a guess, but if a state hiway dept. ordered several hundred at a time, Ford may have made them however they wanted. Ford did this with fleet cars and trucks. Tool Kat

    OT:Mystery Ford Tractor

Due to the lack of a proofmeter, I would guess it's a 620 or a 621 industrial. Tool Kat

    rops n/hundred series

I think Dell said on here at one time the ROPS must be certified for the tractor it is installed on or the insurance will be void if there is a roll over? Perhaps he could chime in here. Tool Kat

    Spindle bushing wear

May be a matter of opinion, but I would replace them. Worn spindles/bushings, along with a worn steering box, can cause high speed wobble. Don't be suprised to find the spindles/thrust bearings are in need of replacement as well. Tool Kat

    Dan, I Need Proofmeter Help

Original Proofs made by King-Seeley. Look at rear of case for KS in circle. You may be even be able to clean the rear of the case (carefully) and read the original Ford part number and manufacture date (rubber stamped). Tool Kat

    Dan, I Need Proofmeter Help

I know I'm not Dan, but I have been down this route before, and may be able to help. If the face is really rusted, then there is a good chance the guts are too, and will need to be replaced. The NAA and 8n proofs are different- needles and internal gearing. I would suggest having a pro...

    1 3/8 Belt Pulley

Wasn't someone on this board looking for one of these a while back? There is one on Ebay now, it's off a 851. Don't know how to do that link thing, search under 8n. This is probably kinda rare, as by the late 50s most belt stuff was obsolete. Tool Kat
