    Thanks for the response. When you say thread the bolt back in and tap it was the whole pump off the tractor or was this done in place?

    Yes the center bolt has been removed and I have smacked it pretty good . I am at the point where I am concerned about deforming the canister with the force applied. Thank you for the input

    I did take the bolt out but the canister is seized to the pump housing . Probably never been off before. Thank you for the input.

    I am currently trying to rebuild the steering on a 1970 ford 3000. I am to the point I need to change the ps filter but I cannot get the reservoir off. Lines are off but it remains solidly stuck? Would heat help ? I appreciate any input
