    HG42 -- Dies under load

I just took it for about about a 20 minute drive with a new condenser; it seems better? Thanks for all the tips; I'm going to start a new thread re: Oil pressure weirdness and smoking. Thanks guys!

    HG42 -- Dies under load

It's hard to tell from the picture, but it's glowing red in the tester. I did notice that the flash rate seemed to start to go down after it started to die. I'll try a new condenser tomorrow. I figured the black smoke was from the oil burning off? I guess I should describe it as black/blue.

    HG42 -- Dies under load

I have an extra, I'll give that a shot tomorrow afternoon.

    HG42 -- Dies under load

Thanks for the quick reply. You think it could be the condenser even though the spark seems good?

    HG42 -- Dies under load

I'm really stumped on this. Here's what's happening: It will start, warm up (holds at 185F), and idle just fine. I can leave it running at idle pretty much indefinitely. I can drive it for about 5-10 minutes before it will abruptly die. It will start right back up, but then die again a minute...

    Fairbanks-Morse FMJ4 Magneto Weak/No Spark

@scootergmc -- thanks for the quick reply. I haven't re-magnitized the rotor yet (I've never done that before), all the wires look good. I've bypassed the timing by connecting directly to the coil to rule that out as a possibility. I think the point gap is good, they're brand new points. I...

    Fairbanks-Morse FMJ4 Magneto Weak/No Spark

I have a Fairbanks-Morse FMJ4 Magneto on my HG42. It was running progressively worse, wet/fouled spark plugs, misfiring etc. I replaced the distributor, rotor condenser and points, but the problem really didn't get better: spark was intermittent when I tested with a spark sensor light. I then...

HG 42 with wooden beam connecting the tracks

Hey folks, I recently purchased a HG 42 crawler that needs a bit of work. I'd like to drop the oil pan to give it a good clean out, however one of the previous owners jammed a large beam under the frame that rests on the front tension springs of the tracks. I'm assuming it's there for a good...
