    FEL mounts

I’m looking at a Koyker 500 FEL that came off a 4440. Will the mounting brackets from the 4440 fit my 4020 without modifications? How does the Koyker 500 compare to a JD 148? The Koyker mounting system looks sturdier to me but the 148 gets good reviews on this site. Any info here is...

Check the lever inside the governor housing. The two fingers on the lever should straddle the sleeve. If one of the fingers is bent it will bind/wear on the sleeve.

    620/630 vs 3020 gas

“The 2010 was advertised as the replacement for the 630.” But keep the 630 to do the work while the 2010 is broke down…

    John Deere A Questions

It looks like it has the large non pressurized radiator cap so doubt it has a water pump.

    John Deere 37a loader

If the dash lever is pulled all the way back it’s in ‘float’ and there wouldn’t be pressure on the lines.

    Late A right camshaft bearing

Update on the camshaft bearings. The flywheel side bearing had a couple of rough spots in the cup, one spot had metal missing about the diameter of a pencil eraser. The rollers were intact but had lots of wear and were loose on the cone. I could almost pull the cage and rollers off the cone...

    Late A right camshaft bearing

Thanks MSD, This past summer I installed and sized a new bushing in the distributor and filled the cavity under the screw plug half full of oil. I let it sit on the bench for about a week and the bore of the bushing was damp with oil seeping through the porous bronze. The shaft spun easily...

    Late A right camshaft bearing

If there wasn’t fluid in the tires I would deflate and do the strap deal but I’ll remove the mounting lugs with a safety strap around the tire and the casting and get the pulley off. I’ve done that before to replace the clutch “T” bolts. Thanks and Happy New Year!

    Late A right camshaft bearing

That’s great to hear! I was not looking forward to all that’s involved in taking the camshaft out. Thanks.

    Late A right camshaft bearing

Merry Christmas everyone. My late A has a strange rattling noise coming from the area under the distributor. I pulled the governor shaft out and the gears and bearings are in great shape. No sign of anything wrong there. I’m thinking the noise might be coming from the right camshaft bearing...
