    Poison Hemlock

I got rid of it by mowing and round up. Here in Kansas you see it in lots of farmyard and field edges. I had lunch last Friday with land manager for three big tracts of tall grass prairie in the flint hills east of Wichita. He told me poison hemlock was the number one invasive that he deals...

    Diesel woes !

Don't worry you guys. On March 6th John T explained that, "I look for gas to lower in a few short weeks or month max". It's been a month, so maybe he'll be along soon to provide some further assurances.

A gallon of water froze inside B transmission

I had the same experience with my 49 M about 10 years ago. I did the same as you. After the temperature rose I drained the water and orange goo that was in there, and then replaced with fresh gear oil. Trouble free after that. At the time I had only owned the tractor a year or two. I think...

    Help-Slushy Antifreeze

The reason water is problematic is that it expands (becomes less dense) when it freezes. That increase in volume is what does the damage to a rigid enclosed system like a radiator or engine block. Even if your mixture froze it would not expand. You'll be fine. Water is the only substance...

    Firewood math problem

If it were me I might do two piles as I split. Toss the pieces into the separate piles as I split them - "two for you, three for me. Two for you, three for me..."

    Your money's no good here.

I bought gas with cash on Sunday in Wichita. I tried to pay at the pump but it wouldn't take my card! Went inside and handed them $20 for pump three. No problem. I think most of the places near you still take cash. Exceptions might be places like Sam's or Costco. With respect to gas -...

Nearly mowed (not a pun) a motorcyclist this afternoon

I lived in Texas for a few years in the 90s. The joke was, "if you see a Texas car with the blinker on, it was probably like that when they bought it." Apologies to Texas, but drivers were much more aggressive and apt to flout the traffic laws compared to the drivers i was used to in the midwest.

    Almost burned my world down.

Thanks for the reply Chief. I looked around a little after making my post yesterday. I think I'm going to get 2.5 lb ABC extinguishers for mine. I do have a couple of 2.5 gallon water extinguishers that you charge with compressed air. I always have them handy when I am burning outside. They...

Very Few Vendors at Portland, IN Swap Meet

You seem to be answering your own question here: "I go as a spectator every year.....I really don't know why so few (vendors) showed up. Lots of spectators"?? If I'm a vendor going to a swap meet, I need buyers not spectators.

    Almost burned my world down.

How many keep a fire extinguisher on your tractors or other equipment? Someone posted an image of a tractor in a shed the other day and it had a small extinguisher mounted on the rear fender. Seems like a good idea. Any recommendations on type/size that would be useful in instances like the...
